Exceptional Experience at Birds Nest Yakitori Bar! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Birds Nest Yakitori Bar, and I must say it was an absolute delight for the senses. The Japanese yakitori experience at this establishment is unparalleled, and every dish left me in awe. The Crispy Chicken Skin Chips were a revelation! Perfectly seasoned and wonderfully crispy, they were an addictive start to the meal that set the bar high. The playfulness and creativity in transforming chicken skin into chips showcased the culinary mastery at Birds Nest. The Delicious Tuna Tataki was a symphony of flavors. The freshness of the tuna combined with the delicate balance of sauces made it a highlight of the evening. Each bite was a journey through layers of taste that left me craving for more. The Pirikara Spicy Fries were a delightful surprise. The heat level was just right, and the spices complemented the perfectly cooked fries, creating a side dish that elevated the entire dining experience. And let's not forget the Butabara Pork Belly Skewers – a melt-in-your-mouth sensation that I can only describe as culinary perfection. The tenderness of the pork belly paired with the savory marinade made these skewers an absolute must-try. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, the service impeccable, and the attention to detail in every dish was evident. Birds Nest Yakitori Bar has truly mastered the art of Japanese yakitori, creating an experience that deserves every bit of its five-star rating. If you're a food enthusiast seeking a culinary adventure, look no further than Birds Nest Yakitori Bar. Your taste buds will thank you! Oh and do yourself a flavor and try a few of the fantastic tasty cocktails on the menu.

One of the best yakitori bar and dine space in Brisbane. With a variety of dishes and drinks, they'll be able to cater to whatever occasion you're here for. From a nice drinks and chat with friends, to a casual first date or a meal out with your family, the ambience is just wonderful. You can choose to a la carte if you're not too hungry and just want something to coat your stomach before downing a pint of beer (or just knowing specifically what you crave) but if you're in for a value meal, bring a friend or lover to order their one of their set meals. We went with one of the mid-tier options and was very satisfied with our meal. You really get great value for what you pay and they will feed you until you max out your stomach space before sending you off. 🤤😋 I also recommend to get a drink here. Their asahi beers on tap is super refreshing but they also stock great options like matcha beer and exotic cocktails to accommodate their many dishes. 🍻🥂🥃 Dishes I love and would recommend outside what is pictured are grilled tomato wrapped in pork belly skewer, the chicken meatballs skewer, the liver skewer (go for rare, never well done) and the yuzu chicken skewer. You can't go wrong with most of the options there but these are just ones I've found are easy to enjoy. Service is friendly here but it is quite busy and hard to grab their attention at times. Know what you want and order in one go. They do walk-ins but can be extremely crowded at dinner time so please book ahead. Parking is hard in this area in general but very accessible via busses. 💫Tip: if you want to try the food without spending more than $15 before committing to more, come at between 11.30am to 3pm for their lunch specials 👌

Really enjoyed this place for an impromptu visit. Called while walking there and they explained busy but could fit us on the big central share table, happy with that. Arrived and greeted at the door by friendly staff. Seated and offered water on arrival. I like that this is not a kitch Japan style but more authentic setting. Very busy but a good vibe. Setup is close quarters but feels roomy enough when seated. Staff taking order was extremely helpful and patient to explain items further. The meal was great, we got several plates of various things. Edamame, Karage, Grilled Tofu, Zucchini skewers, chips and beers. Edamame, was cooked perfectly and like that it's up to me on the level of salt to apply. Karage, was so tasty with nice side sauce etc. Grilled Tofu had so a great flavor profile with perfect cooking technique. Quite smokey but really wholesome. Grilled Zucchini skewers were really cooked well with that same char and smokey flavor. Again on the mouth a really simple but punchy flavor profile. Chips were so good! Great with beer as a starter. Asahi Black was great. Overall I really like this place, great vibe and good food. As people say a little expensive but I think worth it as you can taste the freshness of ingreds and care taken in presentation. Will be back.

tl;dr: Delicious, authentic Japanese yakitori with great service at a very affordable price We used to frequent Birds Nest when they first opened and when we were still living in South Brisbane; it was one of our mid-week date night spots, pre-tv fame ("I liked them before they were cool!"), but since moving further away it's been a while since we've visited, and I'm glad to see that the quality of food and service hasn't changed. The dinner offering is more interesting than the lunch menu (but the lunch menu is just as good, really), and I would highly recommend the omakase menu. Be adventurous, try cuts (e.g. liver, heart, arteries--which are very good, cartilage) that you'd never dream of! I love that they use chicken thigh and not breast, and for the last few years have been trying to recreate their house-made tsukemono to no success. Emi & Marie have created and are running a slew of excellent establishments here, and you should definitely go, because mediocre pseudo-Japanese food are unfortunately too ubiquitous, and Bird's Nest is a standout.

I give 1 star just for the bad and unprofessional service; the food is ok, not that like really authentic Japanese yakitori, but I feel the style and flavor maybe good for local people. The service is unprofessional and the attitude is totally against Japanese culture (or Japanese working attitude). My friend and I ordered separately, I just ordered my own drink but it came two same drinks. The staff didn’t double check or ask about the order. During our dinner, the staff continually take the empty plates back without asking, my friend ordered the Tuskune with egg yolk OTS, she didn’t finish her Tuskune, the staff already take the egg yolk. So It’s very uncomfortable during our meal. The worse thing is about the check, we ordered individually, but we cannot split bill, when we ask” can we pls pay separately?” The answer is “we only have one bill.” I never seen any other restaurant like this, they don’t feel any sorry or explain something, just let u know”no! U cannot split bill, that is!”

Had a very enjoyable night here with a group of friends. Good atmosphere, very friendly staff, tasty finger food. I enjoyed the eringi mushrooms with soy butter, the omlette with dashi, the chicken meatballs and chicken hearts and the pickled vegetables. Prices vary according to the dishes - some skewers kind of pricier than expected but there also cheaper options like the Japanese curry and rice, and chips. Large selection of drinks available including a few more interesting non-alcoholic options (i.e not just typical soft drinks). Restroom/toilet: There are three restrooms out the back, shared with other establishments. You need to get the key (hanging on the wall) to unlock the restrooms. Recommend for drinks and finger food (izakaya as this place is intended to be) but not so much if you're extremely hungry and looking for a lot of food for a low-moderate price. Would be happy to visit again.
