Yummy casual eats! Lilong specialises in Shanghai style street food and in particular have a decent variety of dumplings which you can see being made fresh as you walk past the open kitchen.
We hadn't made a booking and were just last minute walk ins, but I suggest if you want to come here that you book in advance, as we noticed that within 10 minutes of us sitting down, the place was fully booked.
As you sit down, you will be given menus that have pictures of all the meals and a piece of paper where you mark down which food item dish you would like to order.
The Xiao long bao was fresh and delicious, flash fried beef slices with spring onions was perfectly cooked and the chicken fried rice was okay, but still tasty.
I am not an expert on Shanghainese food so I can't really elaborate or compare with what we ate in that sense, but what we did order was delicious. We we very happy with our choices.
I had read a few reviews to say the service was "bad and slow" but we honestly didn't have any issues with our service as everything was fantastic.
I am looking forward to coming back to eat more.
Update: Went again tonight 17.01.23 with friends visiting from interstate, and we loved it! Service was great, and the food was so delicious!
We tried for the first time tonight: The fried green beans with pork mince, and our friends ordered quite a few different dishes, including spring rolls, fried chicken, sweet and sour pork, fried rice and dumplings with chilli oil and everything we ordered was great! I know a few people have mentioned some of the dishes being too salty, but I love food with flavour, so I personally don't find it too salty myself. I don't like dishes that are bland. I guess we all have different palates🤷🏽♀️
The only feedback is that I wish the rice would come out sooner with the meals rather than mains first, then the rice. I like to eat my rice with my mains, rather than at the end.
Note: Lillong is loacted in the Soda factory Westend, and there is plenty of parking underneath in the...
Read moreWe pre-booked our table for 6:30pm and they made us leave at 7:19pm (less than 1 hour!) 🤯😡
We made booking beforehand for 6:30pm and arrived on time. They did not warn us about any dining time limits when we booked. However, only AFTER we have ordered our meals, the male waiter tells us that we had to leave within 1hr, as they want to seat more customers in an hour’s time.
How rude of him to ask customers to leave within 1 hour especially when we have pre-booked the table beforehand!
The waiter said to us, if we want more time to dine, we could move from our current table for 6, to another table of 6…. We asked him whether another customer has specifically requested for the table we are at? He said no… they just wanted to sell this particular table again in 1 hour’s time.
So many things were wrong with the whole conversation:
You are asking customers who pre-booked the table to leave within 1 hr, so you can sell it again to other people who did not make booking?
You did not pre-warn us when we made the booking that we had to finish our meal within 1 hour.
Which restaurant only gives their customer 1hour to order, wait for food, eat??
To the male, chubby, not very tall, Asian waiter who works dinner shift on Fridays. If you are constantly pushing people to finish their meal within 1hour and hurrying people while they eat, it does not matter if you “sound polite or apologetic”, you are still...

🤵🏻♀️Service - recommend pre-book online in advance. Easy to do so via online platform from google map link. Below average service quality. The waiter and waitress were not passionate at all… can tell they just want to get the job done, get paid and go home.
The serving speed of the dishes was shocking… the cold dishes came out pretty fast, like within 10 mins. However, dishes get served at a variable times. 10 mins wait - we got the drunken chicken cold dish, another 10 mins wait - garlic cucumber, another 15mins for the dessert, then finally with a few prompts here comes the braised meat ball after 30 mins. Almost like a fine dining experience… where you have one dish served and waited (ages) for another.
🍽️ Food - 🥒Garlic cumember - taste was ok, good portion size but quite oily 🍗Drunken chicken - very small portion size, taste ok, the meat was not too smooth/tendor as I was expecting 🍖Braised Meat Ball - nothing special, do not recommend this dish at all 🍡 Glutinous Balls in Fermented Rice Wine Soup - my favourite dessert. Only $8. Highly recommended!!!!!!! The glutinous balls with sesame fillings 🥰 huge portion as well
✏️Overall everything was quite average. Long waiting times between dishes. If I visit this restaurant again in the future, that’s purely for...
