Interesting little Cafe in Westend. Always wanted go here but could not find parking spot. Got lucky today so thought I would drop in and kill 20 minutes!! It is a great corner location so sat at window and looked on the street. I suppose with a name like "Cups on Melbourne " a rather funky name alluding to street it is on but also makes me think of the strong cafe culture in Melbourne! There are tables outside and seating inside. Menu is brief but seems to hit the spot! When I was there most people were having a coffee but I will go here and try a sandwich for lunch and some scrambled eggs for breakfast sometime in the future. Staff were friendly and pleasant. I reccomend! I have been back many times and now this Cafe is my favourite. The food and coffee are excellent and well priced but the service and hospitality from the girls working here is second to none. I have owned and operated cafes my whole life and know what good staff is and know what it is worth. I have been out of it for a period and don't envisage getting back into it but the staff here make me wish I was still operating as I would hire them. Good staff with friendly personalities and caring dispositions are hard to find. I have found it here!...
Read moreI first experienced the wonderful ONA Coffee in Canberra a few years ago. Since then, I've rarely come across it in Brisbane, so when I happened to see the ONA sign outside this cafe, I just had to do a detour and grab a coffee!
It was such a treat to sit in the shaded outdoor area and once again enjoy the smoothness, nuttiness, and depth of this fantastic coffee. Even though it was busy, the service was very quick and very pleasant. The coffee was expertly made, and I could really taste the freshness of the beans.
There is an interesting back story to ONA coffee. I had recalled hearing that former Olympic handball player Saša Šestić started his own coffee roastery out of his garage in Canberra in 2008 - ONA. His vision was to create great coffee and share it with as many people as possible while ethically sourcing the highest quality green beans produced in the most sustainable ways possible. I'm so pleased that this cafe has chosen to use ONA coffee beans.
They have a small menu with a few breakfast/lunch items that all looked fresh, but as you've gathered, it was all about the...
Read moreOn most recent trip to Brisbane I returned to Cups on Melbourne several times . This little corner cafe is a quiet retreat , with relaxing cruisy jazz in the background where you can enjoy your morning brew . I sat at the counter overlooking the street to people watch , but there is an outside seating area where you can sit and enjoy breakfast in the shade of a lovely tree. Cups uses Ona coffee , which is a sustainable coffee , and I tried several different beans to see what best suited my palate . They also had a lovely gluten free banana bread slightly toasted which was very delicious. Highly recommend both the friendly staff , one of whom was giving me some much wanted explanations of the coffee notes , and the coffee itself . Every milk based coffee I tried was good , but I did favour both the Maple and the Raspberry Candy - both went well with...
