Gamdang 감당 — Restaurant in Brisbane City

We arrived there, one of the waiter let us to write down the name, then wait for the free table, because he said probably need to waiting for 30 mins, So we just wait cross the road for calling us dine in. We wait here for 15 mins, we think there already have the free table for us. Thus, We back to the restaurant door. one of the waitress ask us “ Are you guys write down your name on waiting list?” We answered “ yes” She checked and said our name already missed. wait for seconds. Then we wait there for another 10 mins. The wait came out to call the name on list, your name already passed, he told us, we need to write down our name again. But the waitress didn’t told us that. She should told us that. He told us, if you guys write the name down, you need wait for this four table. What? So ridiculous! Decided to try Gamdang which serves mostly Korean style Chinese food and jokbal or pig feet. Wasn’t sure what to expect after seeing mixed reviews and having tried the owners other restaurant’s in Sunnybank. I thought the sweet and sour pork was nice but wasn’t generous with the vegetables that normally come with the sweet and sour sauce. The black bean noodles tasted like the one from Ye Dang. I was impressed with the cream jampong or spicy cream seafood noodles. There’s a card surcharge of 1.5% if paying by card but if you pay in cash there’s a small discount. My friend came to visit me in Brisbane, and I brought them here — we ended up coming 3 days in a row! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is amazing, and everyone is so friendly!

The only small downside is… the portions are quite generous, which is great, but it makes it hard for 2 people to try multiple dishes. But the real problem is… everything is so tasty that even when we’re full, we just keep eating!

The noodles are chewy and perfectly coated with sauce. The sweet and sour pork is crispy with no weird smell from the meat — just delicious. And the jokbal? Honestly, I think it’s even better than in Korea! It’s moist, tender, and packed with flavor.
