Delicious, heavenly coffee! I made my first visit on a Friday morning around 830am and sat inside. The service was welcoming, quick and efficient. There is seating inside or outside on the footpath. My coffee was served in less than a minute, even though they were busy. There was a constant stream of customers getting takeaway coffee and many also ordered breakfast snacks like toast, croissants, etc., making me think the food is likely to be good as well. I watched the team operate and they have a good thing going on, it's clear that they are customer focussed. I've tried dozens and dozens of city cafes, many multiple times (to give them a fair go) and in most cases I've been disappointed by the coffee and/or service. With three cafes as notable exceptions, I've found the coffee at other places to be either bitter, watery, lacking flavour, or even undrinkable. At an average cost of $4.50 for a large cup around the city, I expect a fresh and well made cup of coffee that is pleasant to drink. It feels like a bonus if it's a joy to drink! The skinny flat white I had here was a joy to drink! đ It was smooth, creamy, rich and had plenty of body and character. I noticed that they use Norco milk which is a 100% farmer owned co-op, which I see as a plus. I know this brand and the milk just tastes better than most. Perhaps there are more contented cows in the NSW northern rivers region đź This is a new favourite...
Read moreToday, I made my usual stop at Lab Coffee to grab my morning caffeine fix. As I approached the counter, I noticed a new barista who seemed a bit flustered as she took my order. Despite her slightly irritated demeanor, I politely requested an oat milk cappuccino and a selection of sweet treats.
After she quickly prepared my order and handed it to me in a bag, I kindly asked if she could toast my pastries for me. To my surprise, her expression turned even more sour. I couldn't help but feel disappointed by her lack of professionalism and customer service skills. It was clear to me that this new girl was not cut out for the job.
Reflecting on my experience, I couldn't help but think back to the previous Asian barista who had always provided exceptional service with a smile. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail had always made my visits to Lab Coffee a pleasant experience. It's a shame that the new girl's attitude has tarnished the reputation of this once beloved...
Read moreI popped in at 7:45am on a Thursday. They were busy, but had lots of staff serving, so my order was taken super quickly. 2 good signs of a great coffee shop - quite a few people there and police officers also getting coffee. They are discerning consumers. đ
There was a broad spread of different beverage and food options and I had trouble choosing.
I settled on a dirty chai latte and a scrambled egg croissant. The coffee arrived quickly and the croissant soon after. The coffee was very credible, but the croissant was a superstar. It was perfectly grilled and the scrambled agh was firm but not rubbery, making eating it a pleasure.
There was seating inside and on the footpath. There were tables available.
The staff were very friendly to all and knew the names of many customers. The way that they lived behind the counter was poetry in motion, ensuring their busy time didnât translate to hold ups for customers.
This was a...
