Hanwoori offers a mixed experience for KBBQ enthusiasts. While the booking process was challenging—we had to call around ten times to finally secure a table—the staff’s warm welcome upon arrival set a positive tone. We were greeted with a friendly smile and promptly shown to our table. The menu boasts an impressive selection, including marinated steak, spicy pork, prawns, and chicken, all perfect for grilling. The sides were varied and plentiful, with a nice spread of pre-cooked veggies and wings to kickstart the meal. The marinated meats were well-seasoned, adding rich flavors to the BBQ experience. However, the table size for a group of four felt cramped, barely accommodating our plates, glasses, and the grill setup. This aspect, unfortunately, detracted from the comfort of the meal. Service was quick and attentive, though the dessert selection was underwhelming—offering only some oranges and dry brownies, which seemed an afterthought compared to the main meal. While the overall experience was enjoyable, Hanwoori’s hefty price tag makes it more of a one-time visit rather than a go-to for repeat occasions. For those curious about Korean BBQ, it’s worth trying for the variety and flavors, but the space constraints and cost may leave some hesitating to return.

Hanwoori is one of those places where you’ll never leave hungry it’s truly the buffet that never stops giving. The variety here is incredible, with so many options to choose from, and the best part is that you serve yourself, so you can go back for seconds (or thirds!) as many times as you like. One of the highlights is that you can also barbecue your own meat right at the table. The buffet includes a fantastic selection of fresh cuts beef, pork, chicken, and more ready for grilling to your taste. It’s a fun, hands-on dining experience that makes the meal feel interactive and social, especially if you’re with friends or family. On top of the meats, there’s a great range of hot dishes, sides, sauces, salads, and classic Korean favourites, so there’s something for everyone. Everything is well stocked and regularly replenished, as I said it's the buffet that never stops giving. The vibe is casual and lively, and it’s perfect for groups or anyone who enjoys a good BBQ experience. Just make sure you come hungry with so much food and the freedom to grill and plate up exactly how you like, you’ll want to try everything. 🍖🔥🥢

Hanwoori just reopened last week after 2 months of renovations and the transformation is nothing short of incredible! The place has a cool fun casual vibe and it was a full house last night with everyone buzzing about the interior makeover. Our buffet dinner was awesome - so many more choices than before and for $50/53, the quality is excellent (the fried chicken wings omg). Amazing value considering a pub steak will set you back $40+ now! I love that there’s now some premium small plates you can order on top of the buffet including things like jumbo oysters and 9+ Wagyu beef for $10-12 a pop. You can also order drinks from the table now with a QR code, the new cocktail/spirits menu is impressive and there’s photos of what you get too. The 1L soju cocktails were good for sharing and they use Hwayo in the Korean-inspired cocktails (a good quality soju you hardly see around). All in all, highly recommend the new Hanwoori - great for fun nights out with the crew or a casual date night!

EDIT: As promised updated.....

Have gone twice and it is delicious! Going this weekend so will take photos and update further....

Dinner Prices: 4-7yrs - $20 8-11yrs - $35 Adult - $58

One bill/payment per table - so transfer to that one person beforehand or sort out how you're going to pay as they don't do separate.

*Buffet styled restaurant (serve yourself) and dishes are always kept topped up regardless which is great.

Drinks are NOT included - pay separately.

Seating time - is 1hr 45min - which we thought wasn't long enough, so we frantically went and filled up plates upon plates, HOWEVER it is plenty of time to eat! They have precooked dishes as well so for those that don't like cooking or are starving there are options :)

Great variety of meats - plain, flavored and spicy = yum! (which is great for my fussy children as well) - has finger foods

Has all the korean dishes youve been wanting to try after watching too many films 👀😂 cooked and un-cooked.

*plenty of raw food options and pre-cooked which is great time wise and if you're starving.

It may not seem like a huge variety but for me personally, there is so much to choose from.

Staff are super helpful and polite and it's easy to order drinks and extra dishes from an app on the table.

They are always packed and super busy so that tells you a lot about the business! (Great for them, sucky if you want a quiet meal)

*You MUST book! Like I said they are super busy and you may miss out if you don't. Noting: You may have to wait a little for your booking time while they clean up from the patrons before...

Atmosphere - if you like k-dramas and youve always seen them eating and wanted to try - this is the place for that experience it's so much fun and super lively :)

Look - Reno'd after the 1st time we visited and it looks super sleek and cool, definitely adds to the atmosphere. Super clean look and always tidied.

My family are fussy with their food and love this place so it's one of our go tos....

Price - it is a little pricey but for a range of meats and products I believe it's worth it - for good food (we go at dinner time) $58 per adult and $35ish for children?..

Parking - downfall - no parking for the establishment itself, which is normal, it's in the city. There are parking places down the road or a street over, but very hard to find, if you're a truck, you have to go searching for parking where you can fit. Price wise though - all day weekend rates range $8-$15 for the day, which is reasonable.

*Location - one of those hidden gems - you wouldn't even know it's there unless you google searched for Korean bbq or you stumbled upon it. Literally the street over from botanic gardens, so a stroll afterwards is exactly what you need, when you eat too much 😅

VERY OLD POST: I've heard great things about this restaurant and would love to try however, I'm finding it impossible to get through on their landline (ive literally called 25 times between 5.30pm - 6.30pm) to make a reservation AND I've been on the website, clicked on "Make a Reservation" and nothing comes up? It's my besties birthday and I'd love for her to try korean bbq for the first time. Is Hanwoori still open? Happy to edit once weve...

(TLDR AT THE BOTTOM) Let me preface that the first time we came here was PRE-COVID 19 and it was amazing, the meat was tender and good quality, the service was amazing and the buffet selection had a good variety of food and meats to select from.

But this review is about the time I took my family there on the 21st of July 2020. From the moment we walked in we could tell something had changed as there was not one staff in site when we came inside, after a couple of minutes my partner had to exclaim "HI" to even get the staffs attention, once she did, that the staff member just stared at her like she was from another world, not even bothering to greet us or ask why we were there.

After another staff member finally came out we got shown our table and were told that they wont be able to let us get our own food from the buffet (Understandable due to Virus and Health concerns) but what they gave us in replacement was a little piece of paper with about less than a quarter of what the original buffet had to offer. We were to put what we wanted and ring the bell for someone to serve us. (Keep in mind we had a table of 6 people).

SO that's what we did, we put what we wanted on what was apparently suppose to be a buffet menu (More like a sampler menu). When we rang the bell no one came....a few minutes go by I ring it again....still no one....wait again for a couple minutes and I ring the bell, someone finally comes to take our order (I must add at this point there were maybe only 4-5 other tables that actually had customers on it at this point so they definitely weren't busy).

We give him our order which was a moderately sized order and he straight up refuses to give us the food because it "wont fit on the table"....Weird....we didnt order that much, I guess we can cut back our first order and order more later which is okay. When we go to order our drinks...surprise surprise he refuses to give us our drinks as well using the excuse of "the virus"...Literally the only place I have been that refuses to make drinks. So we get our first plates and....what is this, a few pieces of meat on huge plates that look empty.

This continued on throughout the night with MISSING food, straight up tiny servings and completely wrong orders been given to us. Some of the food we ordered at the start didn't even arrive until our LAST ORDER...Lets not even mention the quality of the food, the chicken....luke-warm and weird tasting, hot food that's suppose to be freshly cooked or at least HOT was cold and we had to reheat ourselves on the cookers, the meat quality had obviously been destroyed with low quality meat and tiny servings. The weird thing was that whenever I looked at other peoples tables they had mountains of meat on their plates and decent servings, yet whenever we ordered, the food was scarce or just straight up missing.

It honestly felt like we were being targeted either because of table size or our race, either way I definitely felt some sort of targeting when I was there. This place is appalling and I'm really sad to see this because we loved it the first time we came...

TLDR; Missing orders, refusal of orders and drinks, bad quality food and absolutely horrible service,...

Totally dissapointed! Our family has been coming to this place for a long time and today service is absolutely poor. There were 6 of us plus a baby in a pram. They said they can only give us a small table with one burner as others are all reserved and asked if its okay we can be cramped in one corner. They also wont even offer us two adjoining tables as it seats 10 pax and so we ended up sitting in two separate tables NOT facing each other. Later on after almost 2 hours we noticed nobody occupied the tables that was said to be reserved. And its not just one table free, there were about 1/3 of restaurant tables were available. What a disgrace! Can you explain this to us?! Another thing, we asked for a glass of ice as the water provided is not very cold and we were told it is not part of thier service?! Seriously?! You open a restaurant and can't give ice to paying customers?! To top all that, my sister who is ALLERGIC to alcohol, ordered a mocktail and was given a drink with alcohol in it. She had reactions from the alcohol and now she is feeling unwell.

We reported all this to the person on the till whom we thought was the manager who didnt show much care and all he could say is he is not there when it all happened so its not his fault! Still charged us full price ($205 total) didnt even offer a discount or any aplogy for the inconvenience. We are Definitely not...
