We visited Il Verde on a Thursday night. It was the quietest restaurant on the street, though we found it warm and welcoming. Upon entry we had our choice of tables, we chose an area that was nice and quiet with a clear view of the kitchen and restaurant. The whole venue was clean and uncluttered and we enjoyed prompt service from both our waiters The drinks list was very generic, which accommodates every taste though we felt it lacked personality, especially compared to the rest of the menu. The specials weren’t made obvious to us and the board was mostly hidden from sight. We noticed it after ordering and wished the waiter had brought our attention to it sooner. The menu had a variety of mostly traditional Italian dishes, with a good amount of entrees, mains and sides. We ordered the cured meats platter, the risotto and the orecchiette.. We asked for our entrees and mains together and our request was met promptly, which would be expected given the amount of people in the restaurant. The cured meats platter had a good selection, served at a perfect temperature and came with garnish salad as well as warm garlic flatbread. The orecchiette was cooked well, the sauce clung well to the pasta while being full of flavour, balanced, and not overwhelming. We ordered the risotto specifically as it is a sign of the kitchen staff skill set, and we were not disappointed! The rice was perfectly cooked, and the flavours were again very pleasant without being over or under seasoned. Drawbacks of the venue was the decor, the handwritten menu above the pass, which was unnecessary, non legible and occupied a wide space which could be used for better marketing purposes. For an unscheduled, unbooked dinner, we felt very much welcome and enjoyed our evening. The bill was very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food, highly recommend this venue for delicious pasta dishes, and will be trying the pizzas next time!

I was seated right near all the staff and kitchen, which was fine for watching the kitchen but not the staff hanging around to chat.... first time dining, staff didn't seem to care, I ordered after about 5 minutes of trying to get attentions of staff mid conversations, got my lamb shank and slop...for what was meant to be mash potatoes... 😳 I was hungry, so it was all eaten. I would have ordered something else, but that would have involved getting staff to want to get more out of me, and you guessed it stopped conversation..... but to my surprise, a different staff member came over when she saw my plate empty and had been for 10 minutes with no one else seeming to care... she asked how it all went. I asked if I could get something takeaway, and she said yes... ordered and received, got to pay and leave... I'd love to go back here... but would definitely need to allow extra time for service to happen... or hopefully get in the section of the last one who served me in her section.

Rating 1-5 Food: 3 Presentation: 5 Ambience: 4 Service: 5 Price: 3 Date & time of visit: 12 Feb 2021, 7:30pm Service: Reservation was made over the phone and the lady who assisted me was really nice. Like almost all the reviews for this restaurant, their customer service cannot be faulted. Inspite being busy they still made multiple rounds to check on customers. Food: Excellent Diavola (5/5) Carbonara was a bit salty (3/5) Spaghetti Con Gamberetti was okay (4/5) Total bill: $91 There is probably nothing iL Verde could have done about what I'm about to say - a mid sized cockroach landed on my partner's lap.šŸ˜‚ Again, not the restaurant's fault as we were seated outside but for sure you can appreciate how that affected our dining experience.

Went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Service was terrible! Apologies to use this word, but I do not have a better to describe how uncomfortable we all felt. I’ve been to this place a few times also a while a go and it is getting worse. FOOD: really nice and tasty! However, no one came to explain the menu to us we knew because like I said I’ve been there a few times a while ago. SERVICE: extremely disappointed! Waiters with no experience about what they were doing, not polite at all, rushing us to order, did not ask about allergies or what we were celebrating, no communication with us. I’ve asked if the spaghetti with prawns could be without chilli, one of the staffs said yes and then when they were bringing our food another staff said ā€œthe prawn spaghetti is mild cannot be without chilliā€. We had to swap dishes with the family during dinner, because my son could not eat at all! Very frustrated and uncomfortable situation. No one came to check our table for second round of drinks, no one asked if we were enjoying our meal, etc.

I’ve brought a cake to sing happy birthday to my daughter, they brought already singing without asking me. We were not expecting the cake because we brought a few candles and a HB sign to decorate, they just brought us the cake. Again, very uncomfortable situation. After all this, they were pushing us to leave, I’ve asked if we could split the bill (I know a few places don’t do that, but I thought well as they are pushing us to leave, and made so many mistakes, maybe I should try) the answer was: NO! Only if you pay equal amounts. Which I understand but at the same time a few people had more dishes and drinks than others. Anyway, food was good but terrible experience. Definitely, will not recommend for celebrations or even last table bookings, as they treat you very bad and make you feel uncomfortable.

I work in hospitality for years, and one thing I would say: training your staff, be nice to the customers because it is a business and also a moment to the guests. At the same time I work in the industry, I am a customer. So at the same time you are a customer, you pay your bills working in this industry. If you are not happy working in hospitality, please find something else, open another business BUT PLEASE, DO NOT DESTROY A MOMENT AND EXPERIENCE TO YOUR GUEST. Because you are also a customer in another please.

We had heaps of dishes, but...

We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening, and we were made to feel very unwelcome from the moment we asked if they had a table for 4 available. We were asked if we had a booking which we did not and this seemed to annoy the staff member who was able to seat us without to much trouble, so clearly the restaurant was not booked out. It was half and hour before our order was taken, during this time we were served our drinks but no water. An hour and a half after our order was taken, we noticed tables that were seated after us were being served their meals. I approached the waiter who had taken our order and politely pointed out that tables that were seated after us were having the meals delivered and when could we expect our meals, I should point out we had only ordered mains. The waiter went away to check and came back and said we would be next to be served. Much to our disappointment more tables that were seated after us were served their meals. I once again asked remaining polite and courteous, about our meals pointing out that more tables had been served before us, this time a lady staff member intervened, and I have to say with some attitude and said we would be served next. Our meals arrived without so much as an apology for the time it took to get our meals, by this time we had been at the restaurant for 2 hours. Apart from our drinks ordered when seated we were not approached at any time if we would like to order more drinks. While the meals were edible they were not amazing. I would certainly not go to this restaurant again and would not recommend to any of my friends. The service was appalling. I did notice that this restaurant also does meals as part of UberEATS, it appears that they have not learnt how to provide meals to customers seated at the restaurant and take away meals at the same time. When it came time to pay our bill we asked if it was possible to have our drinks taken of the bill given the appalling service. We were given a 20% discount, I would also like to point out that there was also another couple who were given a 20% discount for bad service. I would give II Verde zero stars. But unfortunately I have to give it 1 star to have this...
