We arrived early for our 7pm booking at 6.45pm, wanting to have a drink at the bar. By 7pm the restaurant had become busy and we were forgotten about, I finally caught a staff member by 7.15pm and asked to be seated. Full disclosure - I am vegan and my partner isn't. There were ample vegan options, which is awesome. So, we ordered and our starters after about 10 mins, I chose the vegan version of the betel leaves and partner chose the chicken satay skewers. The betel leaves arrived first, with about a 5 min wait for the skewers. No big deal. The betel leaves were amazing - so flavorful and delicious. Partner was super happy with the satay also - they said the chicken was cooked beautifully. The wait in between clearing and the first main arriving wasn't notable so it mustn't have been bad. The wait between my partner's food arriving and my dish arriving felt like an eternity. Eventually I gave up and told them to eat rather than let their food get cold. They ordered the cape grim steak - they said it was delicious but not at all what they were expecting. It was literally a steak with nahm jim on the side. Wild. I was looking for a staff member to inquire about my order when one arrived to ask me if I received my meal. By this time my partner had finished theirs. So, my vegan pad thai arrived and boyyyy was is not worth the wait. No peanuts, very bland, no chilli at all, and very oily. I can get a better vegan pad thai from Pawpaw cafe, U-Tong in Clayfield or Thai Natong in Boondall. At $24 I was expecting something amazing, it was truly the worst pad thai I've ever had. We chose not to have dessert as we weren't risking it, lol. So, for 2 people - one vegan and one omni it cost us $150 exactly for 2 starters, 2 mains, 3 beers, one cocktail and a wine. For this money, you're far better off going to Pawpaw. I wanted to love this place, but there are so many better...

Early sitting of 6pm straight after work in the CBD in an absolutely beautiful location being the old Hotel Embassy building designed in the Interwar Commercial Palazzo style, the joint smelled of pure Thai food luxury on arrival. Greeted and seated in a great spot we were fired to enjoy this multi-award-winning establishment. A few pieces of the satay chicken skewers with lemongrass, kaffir lime and peanut sauce went down an absolute treat and were seriously generous in size which is rare these days. Onto mains with the lady of the hour popping the Roast Pumpkin Red Curry with capsicum, Thai eggplant, peas and coconut cream which again was well portioned and presented with me going for the blackboard special fish of the day, tonight being a whole Red Snapper fried up with sweet chilli and tamarind – appropriately sized for the price, although other versions of this I have devoured are served vertically on the tummy of the beast, but that didn’t take away from the glory. Both coupled with coconut rice and roti and washed down with the 2021 Rockburn Estate Pinot Gris from Central Otago, NZ, very nice. Service remained consistent throughout our sitting with us having a central seat – only whinge is that there was a middle-aged couple, like us, with two high school girls (school remains anon. but a premier Brisbane Girl’s College) in uniform with their bags spread out and carrying on a bit over which TikTok to watch, which was a shame. Overall we had a cracker of an evening although losing a bit of coin downstairs in the Embassy Hotel pokie room and reminisced of the Blue Elephant in Bangkok. Highly...
Read moreMy first time here. I just hopped off work therefore I wanted to grab some lunch for dine in. I was not dressed proper since I am wearing my comfy clothes for work. The lady in white, I’m assuming the manager, did not really happy with my appearance. But I just let it slide since she only greet and took me to the table other than that the service staffs are great.
Right. Food are interesting. In my opinions, it’s overpriced and under-execution. Rather disappointing. I ordered the pan-fried prawn dumplings, half a dozen oyster and pork mince dumplings. The dumpling I can say it is a usual basic order for dumpling. You can not messed it up. They did. How…?
The pan-fried prawn dumplings did not indeed pan-friends at all. Where is the crispy bottom ? The filling is very mushy for a prawn dumpling. Their ratio of flour and prawn filling are completely off for it to have that texture. The soy sauce is very vinegary, I’m talking about I almost coughed up a couple of times.
2.The pork mince dumplings. You can tell the filling either been cooked or stir-fried before wrapping because it’s falling apart the moment you cut in the middle. If it their style then great. The flavour of the filling is great. The presentation of the dish is eye catching and pop of colour. But what the happened to the dumpling skin…? It’s super doughy have this texture of an uncooked mushy dumplings. It was not pleasant to eat. It was not worth $18 for 2 undercooked and mushy dumplings. I do not mind to pay $18 for 2 dumplings if it worth the price but this dish did not.
The oyster probs the best out of all. You cannot messed up fresh oysters unless it’s old.
I had left half of the pork dumplings and told the waitress why and gave her a feedback. I asked them to try it and they would...
