Bellakai — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

My partner & I are here on a Holiday we came across this place as it looked busy which is always a good sign. We waited to be seated and two of the staff walked passed without any acknowledgement to even greet us in for a table.

However we love having breakfast together as a couple so we go to many places, (the staff look very stressed out with ordering) we ordered smashed avo & salmon which came with one piece of sourdough with half of the slice covered with a small spread of avo and the other half covered up with Spinach and a small piece of salmon.

I asked the waitresses why was there only 1 piece of sourdough with half spread avocado for $22? Their answer was “This is our full portion size”. there was no help or even an offer to top this up without paying extra.

We both travelled over 30mins for breakfast I told them I’m not happy with the amount that we’re paying, this is very disappointing and will not be coming back at all.

If you’re hungry do not come here as they serve prison sizes.

There have been other negative feedbacks from 4 years ago and still they have not UP their game and have not taken the feedbacks or constructive criticism about their staff or portion into any consideration.

Best breakfast (brunch) menu ever!

Had a late breakfast at Bellakai this morning. I chose pork sausages from the specials board and ordered a coffee to go with it. Both were top-notch.

The sausages were served with spinach and garlic on sourdough, topped off with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce (try doing that at home). I really enjoyed this dish - the sausages were tasty, and the other elements went well together. Couldn't fault it at all.

The coffee was also top quality, a smooth brew with plenty of flavour. I appreciated that they served it extra hot as ordered.

Impressed with the staff, too. A friendly waitress brought a carafe of water and a menu, and took my drinks order. Coffee promptly arrived, and the food order was taken.

Bellakai has a very extensive and flexible menu. There are set items and a long list of extras (mushrooms, sausages, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes, etc), which you can either add to a listed dish or use to make up your own dish. They also have a weekly specials board, ensuring something new is always on offer.

I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. Their savoury mince is one of my favourites.

Would recommend Bellakai to my family and...

Just ate here for dinner. A group of seven people for a Birthday celebration. We were all disappointed. I ordered a flat white coffee which came out with half a cup of coffee and rest was froth. Was told by waitress that she had been making them all day like mine and no one complained. This meant that I had nothing to complain about. But I specifically order a flat white so I don't get froth and a full coffee as I am a non- drinker. Where I sat there was large outside table umbrellas folded up behind the chairs therefore was difficult to sit at table. Meals - all came out warm and side serve of green veges were COLD. When you pay $38 for a steak (and you only get a steak for this) and then have to pay $7 for green vegetables comprising of virtually only bok choy you would hope the meal or plate would have been hot. We mentioned this to waitress and she said that she had brought it directly from kitchen. We tried to explain that we understood it was not her fault but the kitchen staff need to be aware. Not much response from this. We are all locals and this will be the first and last time we go to Bellakai for dinner. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED - do not eat...
