We thought that arriving just before 6pm was going to give us a chance of maybe getting a table within 30-40 mins. We watched the line shrink away until we had become the last in the line, out of the names written on the board. At that point I spoke to the friendly waitress who was managing the queue..she told me that we had a table as soon as the people on it were ready to leave. At this point we had waited 1 hr and 15 and were starting to feel sick so I asked if I could at least order (a few smaller tables had just sat down and I wanted to get in front of them as we had waited much longer than them). The waitress kindly told us our intended table number and I ordered.

So we arrived at 6pm and got our first pizza at 7.50pm. As a table of 4 we were lucky to be sitting inside. The lovely waitress that we spoke to was the only friendly one, the other 2, including the cashier were sour and disinterested.

Don’t get me wrong, the pizza is great but most of the tables are small, the lighting outside is rubbish and the atmosphere is impersonal and it feels like a production line. There is very little opportunity to engage with anyone so it must be a super boring place to work! Getting a glass of wine in a glass water cup was the half sucked cherry on top that completely matched the rest of the experience.

I honestly wanted to love it, was even happy to wait an hr but I simply cannot recommend it. Almost 2 hrs to wait to eat! This isn’t footpath dining in Europe…..you are basically sitting in a car park in downtown...

We really love Coolie and have holidayed here for years. How I didn’t know about Franc Jnrs is beyond me. We had a big lunch so just wanted a small pizza for dinner.

We asked Mr. Google for advice re-the best pizza in Coolie And couldn’t ignore the reviews.

We arrived on a Sunday evening when it was already busy but the excellent staff explained there was a short wait for tables but it didn’t take long ‘til we were seated. We ordered a Detroit style meatball pizza to share. I noticed that they closed at 8 pm and I suppose I was looking at my watch as I thought if the one pizza wasn’t enough for my wife and I we would order another, but would we make the 8 pm cut off?

We understood they were busy and weren’t concerned about the wait, however on two occasions two different young ladies assured us the pizza was being prepared. This was without us asking.A short time later the pizza arrived and it was so delicious we couldn’t believe it.

We live 3 1/2 hours from Coolangatta and I would consider driving that far to have a feast of pizza from Franc Jnrs. I’m serious!
