There is something truly extraordinary about Emily, the kind of bartender who redefines what it means to step behind the bar. From the very first moment she greets a guest, there is a sense of genuine warmth in her smile that immediately makes the room feel lighter, as if the entire space bends toward her kindness. Her professional grace is undeniable — the way she carries herself with effortless poise makes everyone around her feel both respected and cared for. Beyond that, Emily has a remarkable intuition for reading people, a rare gift that allows her to know exactly when someone needs a lively conversation, a quiet moment of peace, or simply a perfectly crafted drink placed before them without a single word exchanged.
Her attention to detail is astonishing; she remembers not just names and orders but stories, preferences, and the little nuances that make each person feel special. There’s an artistry in how she mixes drinks — it’s more than bartending, it’s a performance, and her creativity shines in every glass, turning simple ingredients into something unforgettable. Watching her work, you can’t help but admire her confidence, which is never arrogant but instead wrapped in humility, showing how much she truly cares about her craft. She has a magnetic presence, drawing people in not by demanding attention but by exuding an authentic, natural charm that makes people feel at home.
What stands out even more is her patience — she never rushes, never dismisses, and treats every guest with the same level of kindness, whether they are regulars or someone walking in for the first time. Her sense of humor is another treasure, turning what could be an ordinary evening into one filled with laughter and joy. Beyond humor, though, she has a kind of wisdom that makes her conversations linger in your mind long after you’ve left, as if she somehow knows how to speak directly to the heart.
Emily’s dedication to her craft is inspiring, as she never settles for “good enough,” always finding new ways to learn, refine, and elevate what she does. She also radiates confidence in others, encouraging her coworkers, lifting them up, and fostering a sense of teamwork that makes the whole environment better. Her empathy is profound — she seems to feel what others feel, and in that connection, she creates an atmosphere of trust where people can simply be themselves.
And perhaps most beautifully, Emily has a rare combination of strength and softness: the strength to handle any challenge with resilience and calm, and the softness to remind everyone that kindness and humanity are never weaknesses but the greatest strengths of all. She is, in every sense, not just an exceptional bartender but an exceptional human being, the kind of person who leaves a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough...
Read moreNot even the last place I’d ever go again.
Waxys is much better food, value ambience and service - fo yourself a favour.
I organised a group of 16 to attend last night, the waitress’ were lovely , didn’t have to wAit for drinks and the accommodated you pay as you go. Walking in the venue presented nicely however lacked any ambience .
Felt dry and was VERY VERY COLD, although pointed out multiple times one of the doors could have been pushed halfway shut, was told heater was on but honestly no one really cared. I was dressed warmly but I may as well have been outside in the wind. That’s all we could think about for awhile until our stomached were grumbling, hour after order all our food arrived at snail trail and I’m not even exaggerating, first person waited for others meals which didn’t arrive for another 10-15 minutes between every single meal. Was told only one person in the kitchen and I easily counted over 70 patrons! I asked for complimentary chips while waiting for meals was denied this ridiculously small gesture.
The food wasn’t bad or great pretty basic, my Guinness pie had burnt pasty minute amount of filling distracted by massive amount of boring mash, pizza was excessively smashed with cheese , steak was nothing special .
Covid menu was not listed on website there were no healthy options, was looking forward to salmon.
The drinks for Irish pub in surfers are way overpriced in comparison to many other venues.
Never attending or recommending this place again . I don’t like leaving reviews like this but it all could have been avoided had the kitchen had support, heating or fours shut and basic communication re update menu...
Read moreBouncer has a superiority complex, no matter how much of a nice time you have at this fairly nice bar it will not make up for the fact that the bouncers are absolutely dire. I bought a drink for my girlfriend who went over the road to get some cigs (the bouncer let her out the door) when she tried to return she was informed the bar was closed with him simply holding his arms in a cross. I then passed the drink I had just bought over the front and was abruptly told I can't do that. We had been paying customers all night. When my girlfriend asked why she wasn't told when she was leaving she wouldn't be aloud back in, the bouncer simply responded with the fact she didn't ask. So be very careful if you leave the premises at any point if you decide to visit here as it may close and you'll be scolded for not asking. The bouncer failed to handle a disturbance earlier from a male so I can only assume he was sexist as well as insecure about his own manhood. The previous 1 star reviews complain about the same bouncer than I'm referring too and previously this page has been responded to saying that it will be looked at. This wasn't the case, in terms of a business I would sack him on the spot otherwise one little man with a lack of morals and an attitude problem will end up shutting this place down. In summary avoid visiting here. Hope this helps you pick another pub to visit while you're in surfers paradise and have...
