Chi Chi Café — Restaurant in Launceston

This is possibly the worst Chinese we have ever eaten anywhere in the world! We had the wonton soup that had 3 wontons and smelt like something disgusting (possible an overload of fish sauce). We drained the soup and ate the wontons that had unfortunately been impregnated with the soup flavour. We also had the sweet and sour pork that had ok fried pork which was edible but a little overdone. The sauce was not very nice and had an awful tangy taste. The chicken and cashews was the best of the meals and was the only saving grace. The worst experience was the “special fried rice” that cost $9.90 and consisted of globby rice with diced carrot through it. There was no meat, chicken or other veggies and it was definitely not fried. The cost of this atrocious meal was $68.70 including a $5 delivery fee. The menu on the website said the soups were $6.50 so 2 would have been $13.00 plus $9.90 for the so called special fried rice and $5 delivery = $27.90 that meant that the other 2 basic style meals cost $40.80 totalling $68.70 all up. Some reviewers said it was a good value restaurant but we’ll leave that to you. There are not that many Chinese restaurants but lots of Indian restaurants and we know why that is. There is a great variety of food. The staff are very friendly when entering the restaurant. The decor of the restaurant looks a little old. But still very warm and cute. There's a menu on the table. There's a menu on the wall. The bar also has a menu. It's kind of hard to know where to start. We ordered fried noodles and pork rice. And snacks. Overall I think the food is cheap. But I don't know if it's because there's so much variety. Quality is not taken into account. For example, the meat of Lu Rou is a little dry🥲I hope my next visit can have a different improvement...

While in Launceston we decided to try Chi Chi Cafe. We booked ahead and were greeted by a friendly staff member at the door . The food ordered, Cashew Chicken and Deep Fried pork, along with some Pork Dumplings was tasty and served in a timely manner.
