This place delivers to their name when many, many do not. A Treat of France is a comfortable cafe with a warm, cosy ambience. Wooden floors and leather seats give it a warm inviting feel. The small cafe tables and seats make sitting down for coffee and pastries a cosy affair.

The food selection available is fantastic as the cafe offers various kinds of breads and pastries. The croissant, toasties and baguette selections was particularly varied and interesting, whether you prefer more meats or cheese, there should be something for you. Topping it off, the selection of cakes and tarts is also very impressive.

We ordered the Beef and Caramelised Onion Baguette, Ham and Cheese Croissant, and Lemon Meringue mini tart, Passionfruit mini tart, Pear tart, and Apricot tart. I had the baguette toasted and it was served perfect - the baguette was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The croissant is light and fluffy but was a little more charred than we were used to but it was still very enjoyable. The tarts were simply delightful.

The coffees were very good. Not sure if it's influenced by the fact that the coffee machine is placed by the window, and each cup of coffee made has visible steam rising from it because of the sunlight shining in.

Will...

A Treat of France - Nth Melbourne Just a short trip across the road from the main entrance to the RMHospital, we discovered this wee treat. We headed here smartly in between appointments as we were desperate for our caffeine fix, and starting to get a little peckish as well. Thankfully the coffee making on our first visit was top notch, and the selection of filled baguettes had something for everyone. I had my turkey and Brie cheese one, toasted, and it was fantastic! My companions also shared a homemade sausage roll, which was first class too. The rest of the sweet treats looked sensational, although they would have to wait until my second visit today before I could try one out. Unfortunately, because it was later in the afternoon this time around, the chocolat au pain were long sold out, so I made do with an apricot pastry, which was certainly delish! My takeaway coffee was a little too hot this time around, so I had to wait a while for it to cool off. Otherwise, it tasted very good. The ambience is warm, and the service inviting (especially so on our Tuesday morning visit), with attentive and chatty service staff, including the barista. 4.5 stars and well recommended...

Disappointing service & coffee. This café is a block away from my place, I always go to another local Cafe, today I decided to grab a take away coffee from here to try the taste and see if it can be my new regular spot, I ordered a mocha to take away with keep cup, the staff didn't ask me the size and makes/charge for a large coffee, since I've never been there I thought that was the normal price for regular coffee. Coffee taste weirdly sweet , I'm pretty sure instead of drinking chocolate they use the milkshake chocolate syrup which makes the coffee taste strange. Beautiful space though hope the actual product...

These are the croissants you are looking for! Buttery, crunchy, flakey goodness. There are places that promote their pastries as being special or build social media hype... But after you take a bite you think 'is that it?'. If you have had that experience then come to A Taste of France to enjoy croissant and pastry happiness for real. My favourite pastry is the Chocolate Escargot: tangy glaze, rich chocolate bits, and flavoursome pastry base... Yum! Almost as good as a warm croissant with jam for breakfast! Staff are friendly and happy, and the high ceilings and limited seating makes for a nice atmosphere
