DOC St Kilda is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of St Kilda's epicentre, and it's a culinary experience that's nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with a warm ambiance that instantly set the tone for a memorable dining experience.
We've dined at out DOC locations, mainly Carlton; however, the menu here is different in all the best ways. I'd call it a celebration of authentic Italian cuisine, crafted with the finest ingredients and a genuine passion for food. Each dish is a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared by talented chefs who clearly take pride in their craft.
Whether you're craving DOC's famous pizza or, fresh homemade pasta, or a selection of delectable antipasti, DOC St Kilda delivers on every front. Every bite was a revelation, transporting us straight home to the heart of Italy with its vibrant flavours and impeccable presentation.
The attention to detail extends beyond the food to the impeccable service provided by the staff. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of.
The wine list is equally impressive, featuring a curated selection of Italian wines that perfectly complement the flavours of the dishes, was also good to see some local Australian wines in the mix too. Whether you're a wine aficionado or simply looking to enjoy a glass with your meal, you'll find something to suit your taste.
The ambiance is warm, inviting, and effortlessly chic, making it the perfect spot for any occasion, whether it's a romantic dinner for two like us or a lively gathering with friends and family.
Overall, DOC St Kilda is a culinary treasure that exceeded expectations. With its exquisite food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance, it's no wonder DOC has been able to make the expansion down to St Kilda. Do yourself a favour and experience the magic of DOC St Kilda – you won't be...
Read moreCame here tonight for an impromptu local dinner and it was a lovely dining experience with top teir pasta dishes. I ordered the Campanelle (gluten free version) w/ Duck & Montenegro ragu, truffle Reggiano and my sister ordered the tagliatelle ragu special - both were really tasty, cooked perfectly and the meat was very tender for both :) The truffle reggiano on mine went so well with the dish! Highly recommend both!
We also had some cocktails, margarita (not the best one i’’ve had but it was okay), vanila martini (strong but really yum) and lemoncello spritz which were all on the stronger side but good.
The only real let down was the desserts. For the tiramisu - it wasn’t horrible, just not the best tiramisu i’ve had. It could have been a little more moist. My sister had the pistacchio calzoncino and said it was okay.
Pricing is a bit on the higher end but given the quality of food and atmosphere it is understandable. All the food came out fairly quick, the staff were all super nice especially the host and bartender. The host was very sweet and was able to seat us at the bar when the inside area was actually fully booked - appreciated this as it was freezing outside. He also opened the door for me when I arrived and again when we were leaving.
A nice place to go to for pasta and drinks that isn’t too formal or too casual. Will...

D.O.C Carlton is quite well-known, and I only recently realized they quietly opened a branch in St Kilda. The interior looks new, the olive green and white décor is simple yet beautiful, giving off a strong Italian vibe.
The food exceeded my expectations. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. A must-try is the Tiger Prawns Neri (tube pasta) – the bisque seems to be made from prawn heads, making it incredibly rich and flavorful, and the prawn pieces were delightfully fresh and firm. The Pork Belly Ragu with shell pasta was also nice. The Burrata was served on a layer of tomato bread soup—it tasted like a creamy tomato cheese pasta!
For dessert, they have a sinfully delicious treat—warm Nutella wrapped in a pizza crust. Once you cut into it, the Nutella just oozes out!
I highly recommend booking a table right around sunset for the best dining experience. At a price range of $60-70 per person, this place offers amazing value. Great food, excellent service, and a beautiful atmosphere—highly...
