Munchy Monk — Restaurant in Northbridge

went with a few friends for dinner, super cute atmosphere and great quality food! only problem was that there seemed to be a language barrier when I tried to ask for a bowl of rice as a side and got charged for a bottle of beer instead, the staff member who spoke more English had to explain after the fact that they didn't do rice as a side but would be happy to offer me rice cakes for free to make up for it, which were pretty good. cost wise it was a bit on the pricy side, $48 just to fill me up for two small serves of dumplings, pot of tea and beer which I was charged for (but they kindly gave me free rice cakes), but it was quality and I appreciated the apology and service the staff provided for the mix up. I'm giving 4 stars for the high price for what you get, I would come back but...

The restaurant is abit dirty/grubby on the inside I couldn't help but look at the dust accumulated on the shelves etc, the rubbish on the outside of the place was abit grosse and there is a huge crack in the front window. It almost encroaches on you when you are sitting inside. The food was okay, I had seen that they pulled the dumplings out of the freezer, the sole reason I went was based off another review that suggested the dumplings were freshly made so that was a little disappointing, perhaps it was just the dishes we ordered and they make others fresh not sure. We had luke warm water offered as complimentary on a scorching hot day tbh I didn't wanna drink out of the cups just because the overall vibe as mentioned was grubby. Not in any rush...

Munchy Monk is an absolute must-visit in Perth – hands down, they have the best dumplings in the city! Every bite is a little parcel of deliciousness, perfectly crafted and bursting with flavour.
