I went to the shop about 30 minutes before closing to get a matcha. There were still two other customers waiting for their orders, so I figured it was fine to go in — as it should be. As I approached the counter, a male staff member loudly told the female staff (who was taking my order) the only drinks they could still make at that time. I didn’t catch everything he said, but I didn’t hear “matcha” mentioned, so I asked. The female staff then told me matcha was no longer available.
I asked what options were left, and the male staff came over and said they could only make two iced lattes. I didn’t mind, so I ordered one. While I was waiting and chatting with my friends — with my back to the counter — the male staff placed the drink behind me without saying anything. I turned around and asked if it was mine, and he just gave me a thumbs-up and a smile (seemed like a forced one lol), still without a word.
I know this might seem like a small detail to point out, but if it were my job, I wouldn’t have handled it that way. I also work in customer service, and I understand how draining it can be toward the end of the day. A little basic courtesy makes a big difference, especially in...
Read moreSome changes have been baking at Deli Gabe since my last visit, First: no more toasties, they are now in a committed relationship with bagels 💚🥯(a great choice!) Second: hand-rolled donut twists! 🍩
Had special: Pulled Pork Burgel🐖 $18 featuring Pastrami spiced pulled pork, chimichurri, cheddar, 🧀Gabe's special sauce, onion🧅, cos and roasted peppers. The pork was super juicy and the flavours worked together vey well, if not a little challenging to eat.
And the Mushroom & Cheese 🧀Bagel $16 and keeping it more simple with Grilled mushrooms,🍄 swiss, caramelised onion, rocket and mustard mavo. This is an amazing bagel. Clearly Gabe has work shopped this to perfection. The bagel really is a great vessel for this. Their toastie version absorbed the flavour into the...
Read moreI was there just after 9.00 am on a weekday. Was in the city and happened across this place. Ordered just a coffee and a Brekky Roll. They had a good range of bagels and other rolls/wraps on offer. Service was quick and efficient. Coffee was good and also strong as ordered. Brekky Roll was just okay. It could have done with a little more time in the toaster as it was just barely warmed through. Seating inside and outside is pleasant. Nice vibe. Good option if you’re already in the city but street parking nearby is very limited as it’s in the middle of the city. Pier St Car Park is right across the...
