Went there with my 2 kids (13, 8). Dined there just after 5.30pm for dinner, not too busy which was good for us. Service was great as we were greeted right from the start and advised to order when we were ready at counter. We also got a bowl of complimentary soup as soon as we sat down (chicken soup). We had ordered boneless roast duck rice, and char siew noodle soup with extra noodles, along with a side of pickled vege. Food literally served instantly, literally walked back to my table and walked back to get cutlery and food was already being delivered. Presentation was good, serving was well portioned. However, only thing I would add was the char siew noodle soup with extra noodle. Expected a bit more noodles than what was served. Usually with my kids and myself, we would just be struggling to finish it. However, my kids were still slightly hungry after finishing our meal. Price was descent for the serving, except for the $4 extra noodles, I felt like should be $2-3 for the amount that was given. Paid just over $40 for the 3 of us, good value. The flavour overall was good, the sauce on the char siew and roast duck was a tad sweeter (especially towards the end) than I like my savoury food to be. Personal thing, nothing against the flavour. Char Siew was well cooked, soft, moist and very flavoursome. Same as the duck, however, we did find it quite fatty. Pickled vege was nothing special, taste was average, but good to compliment the meal on a warm day. Overall, it was a good dining experience. Staff were great, and even came out to ask if everything was good with our meal. Place was very clean and tidy, in all aspects. I don't mind returning, but maybe I'll try something else...
Read moreGoodbye, Chop chop! Long time customer no more! (been coming here for over 5 years), have always been a loyal customer but our visit last night proved Chop Chop has changed. The rice tasted old and soggy, there were bone pieces in the boneless duck, and the portion size has gone smaller! A LOT smaller. I've paid $4 for extra noodle and $6 for extra meat and the portion looked like a normal size meal. My husband ordered 2 mains for himself. $60 in and we both went home hungry and disappointed.
We understand the times are hard, but this is ridiculous! Taka, Mr Bun and Noodle forum luckily are keeping up with the quality and service.
EDIT: Received a response- Thank you, Eugene. Not too sure if it was the exact same team who prepared my meal all the time (do they not have shifts or go on break?), but that doesn't matter. I cannot confirm 100% Chop Chop has downside their portions, but I can say our portions that night was certainly much smaller than in the past. In the end of the night. it is a fact that we both went home hungry and disappointed (even after paying extra).
I am glad to know the rice is cooked daily and is fresh. Unfortunately, it raises another issue on WHY the rice tasted old and soggy when it is fresh. Freshness is just one of the components for quality food.
We thank you for your reply and wish you the...
Read moreQuite literally the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. The reviews were very promising so I had high hopes.
I went as a group of 4 and when we walked in, nobody seated us down and the waiter pointed to a table with ONE chair. We had to get chairs ourselves and was still missing a chair. We stood up looking like idiots and nobody cared to help. What was even more sad was when another couple came in after us, they were seated properly and had their tables wiped.
The food was subpar. Oily and full of fat. Complementary soup was only provided when we asked like beggars whilst everyone else had soup given before their food came out. Chicken was cold and seemed like it was left out for a long time before being served. Char siu was so oily and was definitely the scraps. Soup tasted like water mixed with premade chicken bouillon, no seasoning.
Very disappointing for a highly rated restaurant, will not be coming back. I would give a 0 star if it was possible. Poor customer service and...
