Open since December last year, not sure how we’ve missed this spot at destinationsville - Darling Harbour. There’s a nice Inner West kind of vibe to this place which is uncharacteristic of the standard King Street Wharf venue. A growing mainstream awareness of craft beers, they offer a unique and rare experience joining local mircrobreweries, Endeavor Tap Rooms at The Rocks and Circular Quay’s Squire Landing.

There are five permanent taps with another four that alternate depending on the demand. Despite production having to rely on demand, it provides a creative space for Head Brewer, Sam Clayman and his team to refine and retweak seasonal releases. This is a win for beer lovers enabling Sam to experiment with different yeast strains and play around with fermentation temperatures.

The microbrewery acts as a backdrop to the bar entry housing five vessels which can produce over 5600 schooners. Exposed piping and mesh gating accentuate the timber setting giving an urban edge to a casual night out.

For the laymen out there like myself, the IBU measure indicates the hop content in the brew - impacting flavoring and stability of the beer.

We lined up 7 from their taps. It was like a rainbow of beer showcasing some very distinct styles of lager and ale:

From Left to Right (man that was hard work): HUMP DAY I.P.A. (Alcohol Content: 6.2% ABV • 45 IBU) It’s an inviting copper toned schooner of trickery. iThe artist paints and you see exactly what they want to express, one of the more abstract styles in the All hands repertoire, if you’re bitter - this one’s for you! They tell me it’s an acquired taste for the refined palette.

WOOD DUCK CREAM ALE (Alcohol Content: 4.7% ABV • 18 IBU) It’s the signature and crowd favorite. It uses nitrogen to replicate the foamy tops of a cask ale but there are other carbonating/oxidising factors to it also. The only thing you need to know is there’s a nice comfortable sweet spot of vanilla and speckles of spice that come through.

BUNNY HOP LAGER (Alcohol Content: 5.0% ABV • 30 IBU) It’s a radiating straw colored brew that answers the legacy of the original Pilsner. Crisp, bitter, snappy with a backbone and is always a good safe choice.

LONGNECK BEST BITTER (Alcohol Content: 4.1% ABV • 22 IBU) The deep amber elixir with its caramel malt, coppered toast and spicy rye. Using two species of Hop plants for stabilization there are whispers of conflict in each sip of citrus and spice that are quite alluring.

IRISH SPORT STOUT (Alcohol Content: 5.1% ABV • 51 IBU) We enter the realms of fruity-dry, top fermenting ale with this basic black concoction. It’s thick, it’s dry with punch packing hues of (I think) coffee and chocolate. It’s their unique house blend and not for the light hearted.

This was recommended in a pairing with the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Rye also on offer during the event from their pop-up station. Surprisingly, one of the most memorable of the evening. HOUSE CIDER - This golden wheat beer of cloudiness sits on the fruitier side if you’re after something light and easy.

SCORCHER IMPERIAL SUMMER ALE (Alcohol Content: 9.0% ABV • 25 IBU) It sits on the fruitier side with hints of passionfruit, lime, papaya and berries. It’s the strongest in terms of alcohol content in their repertoire and dangeorously smooth.

KING’S TIPPLE KOLSCH (Alcohol Content: 4.6% ABV • 16 IBU) Light copper tones of pear and apple which is where I comfortably sit in terms of beer.

It’s a southern style menu which takes the casual pub menu up a notch with a focus on sharing plates, smoked meat, with a strong focus on locally sourced seafood both in their salads, mains and platters.

Unlike many around the harbour, All Hands provides a very different experience to many of its neighbours and definitely...

I am really disappointed of this place about my first experience yesterday at New Year’s Eve. This place was recommended from a friend of mine as a cool place to watch the fireworks, have some drinks and something to eat so I made a reservation two weeks in advance for me and my family. I advertised that I was going with my husband and one nineteen year old girl and two fifteen year old kids. They said to me:”it is ok as soon as they are not drinking alcohol and they stay with you the whole night”, so since we arrived the security guard was very rude trying to find our reservation and arguing that we didn’t have one, finally after like 20 min they found it and we got in. The place was fully packed and it took me like 40 min to get a drink for me and my husband and order something to eat, ok came back to the table number of our order and 15 min later a waiter came and said “sorry we can’t get your order, the place it is very busy, more than our capacity and the kitchen it is closed”. I was pissed of but still we have a place to see the fireworks, after that the security guard came to us and ask us to leave because the kids were not allowed to be there, we told him that we were told the opposite when we made the booking and he said: oh that is on a regular day but today we are crazy busy and they need to leave!. He was very rude when he asked and didn’t let us finish our drinks. At the moment we we’re going to the end ranch the security at the entrance grab my arm and ripped of my wrist band!!!, I was shocked, I spoke with the manager from outside just letting her know our bad experience, she apologize and said :sorry we didn’t expect this amount of people. I will never come back to this place ever again and I just want to say “thank you for ruin my New...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sporting Global, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric, with a perfect blend of sophistication and warmth.

The highlight of our visit was the incredible service we received from Jason, the restaurant and bar manager. Jason is a true professional who goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience. His knowledge of the menu and drink selection was impressive, and his recommendations were spot on. Whether it was suggesting the perfect wine to complement our meal or crafting one of the best cocktails we've ever tasted, Jason's expertise was evident in every interaction.

What stood out most was Jason’s genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to engage with us, making sure we were comfortable and satisfied throughout the evening. His attention to detail and warm, personable demeanor made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table.

The food at Sporting Global was equally impressive. Every dish was expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The bar offered a fantastic selection of drinks, from classic cocktails to innovative new creations, all of which were executed to perfection under Jason's supervision.

In a city with no shortage of dining options, Sporting Global truly stands out, and much of that credit goes to Jason. His dedication to providing top-notch service and his deep knowledge of both food and drink elevate the entire experience.

If you're looking for a place that offers not just incredible food and drinks but also exceptional service, Sporting Global is the place to be. Make sure to ask for Jason—you won't be...

I had an incredible experience at The Sporting Globe x 4 Pines at King Street Wharf. My barman, Bryn, gave me table service even though I was more than happy to use the very intuitive, useful app available. The beautiful service offered by all staff members at this glorious venue was not unnoticed by me and my peers, and I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon this venue. I will be back, possibly to the point where the staff are sick of me, who knows?! But this is a great venue to visit and I cannot recommend it highly enough. *I think the staff are now sick of me. They have put spit, food and wood in my drink. This is still a good place to go, but avoid the staff. *Some staff need improvement but I’m revising my review back to the 5/5 this place deserves thanks to the incredible work of Jacopo in the kitchen. My friend is suffering from a severely debilitating jaw issue and Jacopo did not hesitate in providing a blended liquid soup for him. Great kitchen!

Jess the manager was amazing she assisted in resolving a very disturbing racial issue and training deficiencies of the organisation. Jess promptly resolved the issue. She assured me I wasn’t being discriminated against as a veteran nor an aboriginal or Torres’s straight Islander by birth. That it wasn’t simply as misunderstanding with her security staff. That I was a human being and should be treated with respect and responsibility. Ben who should be head of security assured me of this and explained the situation and that I was not being discriminated against as normally they just throw you out and as a trained lawyer you then end up in court with them. This was a much more desirable outcome than the alternative. Much thanks to Ben, Jess and the team on Friday 16.08.2024. Great food drink and atmosphere. Will be back and have the next event here.
