Based on positive comments on social media, being enthousiastic, i made a reservation more than one month before date. Bu the day of my experience was a real disaster. Tried several Michelin star cuisines, especially in Belgium, without exxagerating, this was really the worst fine dining experience of my life and I will prove that with pictures and facts.
With my wife and 2y old son we entered the restaurant and we were given a place at floor -1 in a forgotten corner (although we had a reservation 5-6 weeks in advance).
Our menu was: cheese mixture onion soup foie gras small portion of beef tartare Simmentaler filet
Some detailed facts: because I was on floor -1, my mobile reach was insufficient and I asked for the wifi code, they said that there was no wifi while i could see LESG wifi network on the list, so that was the first lie, until the end I had zero reach on my phone 8while this is important for me as being surgeon), the waiter was not friendly and treated us as tourists who will never come again. the cheese mixture was a plate of 5 different chees but in extremely small portions (even in fine dining terms) floor -1 was too hot and there was airconditioning working, also no background music, zero atmophere the foie gras we received was of poor quality, may be because I tried much more better quality foie gras in other restaurants, this had a so neutral taste. could you believe that there was no salt or pepper on the table, really incredible our glass of wine was empty and again and again the waiter forgot to fill our glass, so we did our selve, this is also un imaginable for a so called fine dining restaurant the filet with bearnaise was so bad, the meat was so far may be ok but the bearnaise sauce tasted as being from the regular shop beside, and the worst of all: the french fries were a disaster, , will upload a picture of the french fries which was the top scandal of our eveing, even in a mcdonalds you don't get so overburned french fries, shame on you Salzgries in the middle of the service, the waiters changed because probably there were much more imporant local guests arriving in the restaurant. the only good thing was the beef tartare on our menu and also the wine (Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Sauvion)
This restaurant even don't deserve one star rating, really not, it is a shame that this restaurant classifies itself as fineding.
Be aware as tourist: you will not be treated as you deserve, go eat in a mcdonalds, and you will get even better french fries, such a waste of money. I will post my review on every possible review page.
Dr. Faki...
Read moreOne of the finest places in Vienna, excellent French cuisine and exquisite service. They are willing to modify your order as per your wishes and will remember that for the next time. Just last week there was a new waiter and he knew exactly what we were allergic to and he saw us for the first time ever.
The best time to go is lunchtime, as you are almost guaranteed to get the table. If you want to go for dinner, best book in advance, especially if you want the window table.
They are most famous for their sea food as well as snails. I particularly like their soups and salads. My husband enjoys their beef tartare, apparently the best in town, and sardines (just pick your year, like with the wine).
Speaking of wine, lovely selection of French and Austrian, i love their champagne but if you want something stronger, you will be so pleased with their spirits selection.
Deserts are another strength, but be sure to ask the waiter for any daily offer, these are rare treats and worth the try.
Their menu is not enormous, but what they do is excellent. They will change it seasonally, which is great, unless you fall in love with one of their signature dishes and they tweak or exchange it. (Like the amazing risotto with scallops).
Great to cone here for lunch during the week, they have a quick business lunch menu.
All the waiters speak German, French and English and are very nice. It is quite impressive to see that they know all the ingredients of the dishes, what can be adapted and how. They have always offered a great advice on which dish to choose. Be sure to tip them well, because if you go once, you will become a regular. :-)
Maybe just one downside: no changing table for babies. But since they are very family friendly, they will make things happen for...
Read moreI have to agree with Dr Faki. The write up seemed really good and we thought we would enjoy the taster menu. We arrived late but called ahead to warn them. We were greeted by a lovely young waiter who was chatty and pleasant.
There was no real ambience in the restaurant some music in the back ground. First course was crab, other restaurants I have dined in usually tell you what you are getting and explain the dish, not here, it was put on the table in front of us. Nothing impressive and not artistic at all. Next course - baked oysters, I’ve never had anything deep fried in a fine dining restaurant before. I had to ask if it was the baked oysters as mine tasted like chicken nuggets. Sacrilege to bake as oyster in my opinion! Third course sardines, not something I would have chosen but actually very tasty. Last but not least deboned rabbit leg… and believe me this rabbit had been around the greyhound track one too many times! My man used to make rabbit stew many years ago that melted in your mouth. This was tough and had very little taste. Final course was nothing fancy or fine basically strawberries and cream can’t remember what came with it. I think it was during the 4th course that they turned the music off and started clearing up sound we had the rattle of knives and forks. The wine was AMAZING, a nice Riesling which I’d never had before usuall have a Sauvignon but this changed my life. Myself and my daughter left feeling very disappointed. Was not worth 300 euros. We have both been very lucky to eat in many different restaurants around the world perhaps we have been spoiled. We ate in the hard rock the next night and for a chain if I had to chose between the two I’d definitely...
