Cafe-Restaurant Nussbaumer — Restaurant in Salzburg

Was in Salzburg during the winter. Came across this little restaurant tucked away in the corner, was not the first choice for dinner at first. Most restaurants in the city was fully booked, and the attitudes of most restaurant staff are rude and condescening. However, coming to this restaurant, my family was greeted with the most welcoming staff throughout our trip. 11/10 for service!

The prices were pretty affordable comparing to other restaurants with the same dishes. They provide quite the variety of options, and also have little bites for a quick snack for passerbys.

The food served was delicious. The dishes were all piping hot and well made. My brother ordered a hot chocolate, I had goulash soup and they tasted the best so far (we even went to Cafe Sacher and had those, not that it was bad). The portions of the food was filling.

All in all, great food, great prices, great service....

This was absolutely one of the best places we have eaten schnitzel in all our many trips to Austria. This place was recommended to us by a local security guard after visiting Hohensalzburg and it was the best recommendation ever. For less than 12.00 Euros, you will receive the best schnitzel ever. Unbelievable prices for so much delicious food and the apple strudel with vanilla sauce is to die for. Note you will have to look for this hidden gem, which is inside and at the back of a tourist souvenir store. It's located on the way to Hochensalzburg Castle. So, it could be a nice alternative to eat/drink something on your way to the castle if you want to have a break around Kapitelplatz. Probably it will meet your expectations if you are not looking for somewhere fancy to eat. I prefer to eat a daily menu with today's soup and Wiener schnitzel for 12€ and drank Radler. I really liked the taste of the soup and the schnitzel but the potato salad wasn't that good. I suggest you to get fries (pommes) instead. I'll do it like...
