So I actually came in about a year ago but I was posting about it on Facebook and recalled that I never left a review. So i'm a solo traveler, but the beautiful thing about austria and germany is that they have these big tables where everybody shares a spot, which means that I can get seated without too much drama! So I eventually do get seated after the hostess catches up from the fact that they hadn't been at the stand and there was a small crowd of people now. I get seated and I'm waiting and I'm waiting and I'm waiting and I'm waiting...... And as a white American with German heritage, allow me to say that the experiences that other people have complained about on here in reference to racism, do seem to be correct. There was an Asian couple sat nearby me and I witnessed the waiter be rude to them and basically told them that they needed to hurry because there was a larger party coming in to claim this table. However, that somehow did not light a fire under his butt to give me a menu, let alone take my order. In fact, he completely ignored me. I eventually got up and left because I have better things to do and a healthy self esteem that doesn't involve letting a restaurant dictate to me when and if I eat. There are plenty of other options right there in town surrounding my hotel, as a matter of fact. I just happened to pass them on my way back down from the fort, so thank got they only wasted maybe 30 minutes of my time and it wasn't a special trip out of the way (wouldn't recommend unless you're just looking to exercise). Anyway, as other people have...
Read moreI had the worst experience ever at Stiegal - Keller Salsburg . It was the FIRST and LAST time to visit such place . The waiters there were Sooooo UNFRIENDLY , they were terribly rude , aggressive and never learnt how to treat Customers . And I mean 3 of the waiters who dealt with us . They forced us to sit where they want in spite of the fact that there were so many empty tables ; one of them they said was reserved , the other they said it’s for bigger families , and guess what .. On one of the exact table for the bigger families Sat one couple only and they refused to let us sit on the table next to it , how despicable…and from the time we sat till we left no one sat on them . I told the waiter that I want my drink with the food and he insisted to put it on the table saying the food is coming soon and even he got the coca without Caps which was v strange . The suprise is that when I asked for ice he replied in a very aggressive manner as if he was going to slap me on the face “ Why haven’t you said earlier . The plate I ordered , in spite of the fact of being expensive and on the the top chef plates it was horrible worst plate ever terrible taste I wouldn’t pay 2 Euros for it and it cost 25 Euros . It was called Chantellers with cream as far as I remember . Terrible place would never go there again . Actually I had great expectations for the place because of the view before I entered but the waiters turned me off and they were responsible to make me have the worst experience ever . Haven’t seen such an attitude...
Read moreI understand that there may be a cultural barrier when writing my experience at this restaurant, but I still believe it was totally uncalled for. I am on my Honeymoon with my husband, and I made a reservation for the Stiegl-Keller months in advance at the recommendation of my friend who used to study here. When I walk up to the stand, I try to talk in German first out of respect, but the host mocked me and made me feel so embarrassed. I then went on to explain I had a reservation, giving them both my name and my husband’s, and he said neither name was on the list. We knew immediately he was mocking us, because I know for a fact I had a reservation for that night. It didn’t matter anyways because there were plenty of seats, but I was left in tears at my table feeling so unwelcome and uncomfortable. We chose to stay in spite of it because my husband was looking forward to it. Then our waiter was serving every table around except us and completely ignored us until my husband had to go out of his way to get his attention. We asked for water too and they never brought it. The food was okay and the beer was good, but after my negative emotional experience, I won’t be going back. If you are American and want to come here, be prepared for this treatment. Just speak in English. They want perfection or nothing. It felt...
