Apapika Bowls — Restaurant in Vienna

I am astonished that this place has so many good reviews with the bad poke they have. The menu is only in German so if you are a tourist you need to try and figure out or translate the menu on the wall to understand what they offer. The staff was incredible rude, 3 staff members that don't know what customer to serve and are very arrogant and rude. Food was one of the worst I had and cannot be considered Poke, they don't even know what a poke is. I had baba ganoush and my husband the salmon, both bowls, the rice was overcooked and bland, no rice vinegar marinated as a poke should be, ingredients inside were peanuts which had nothing to do with baba ganoush, the poke looked more like a bad shaorma than poke, the ingredients themselves were so bad left more than half bowl because it was awful beside that the combinations are really bad. Clearly people in Vienna have no idea what a real poke is made of and taste. I was sick after this poke, I reccomend people to eat the poke at landstrasse station which is more edible than this one. They have more chances changing the store in a shaorma store, the Arabic feta was the only good thing...

Coming from Seattle, where excellent poke options abound, I can say that Apapika--at least this one--would hold its own among the best we have. My family and I prefer our poke over greens rather than rice, and the spinach at Apapika did not disappoint. Super fresh. I ordered the truffle ginger beef--admittedly the idea of beef poke was the new to me--and, who knew, it was delectable. Not only was the roast beef premium grade, they loaded my bowl with it. The rest of my family opted for more traditional fish poke, and they were just as happy with theirs. Having just been to Wiki Wiki the day before, which was okay but had disappointed, we were all taken aback by how good this place was. Service was excellent, too. Space is tight inside the joint, so don't count on getting a table if you come...

We ordered three different signature bowls (Teriyaki Salmon, Lani Chicken, and some sort of Chicken Curry Rice Bowl) and all but the curry were just really horrible. The curry sauce was okay. Overall, the textures were wrong and the taste was not good. Although there was a decent amount of food in the bowl, my partner kept digging through his Lani Chicken bowl to try to find a single piece of chicken and was hardly convinced any had been put in there. We tried to push through the almost crunchy, hardly cooked rice and less than great flavors, but it was a total miss. We really are not the type to leave this much food to go to waste, but we were so completely disappointed and disgusted by this food...
