Disappointed to be disappointed really, the place looks quite beautiful but that is where the positive stops. The cocktail list is extensive, probably to a fault. We had to wait 25-30 minutes for our first 2 cocktails to come, not without following up on the waiter. One Amaretto Alexander was somewhat unpleasant with a medicine taste but we won't take this into account as it's an original creation, the Black Jack on the other hand was truly a miss and I mean undrinkable. I think it might be my first time ever sending back a cocktail but this watered-down espresso with a dash of brandy was truly a horror. I got an Amaretto South in place, something safe or so I thought. 25 minutes later, still after following up on its arrival, the drink is here and it's really far from what it is supposed to be. Not shaken, no sugar syrup, and overall still a taste of medicine (for the Aussies out there, it tasted like Berocca with a dash of alcohol). I didn't want to make a fuss so I drank my $30 lemon Gatorade. Ultimately we left and after chasing up the bill a couple of times, they wanted to charge us for the Black Jack, in fact the bartender came up saying that "if you buy a car and get a car you have to pay for it", I get the analogy except what we got was really poor mixology, his ego might have been bruised in the process. I had to get argumentative but didn't say anything about the Amaretto Sour so as to not upset him further. Overall the quality of cocktails is just downright bad, possibly due to an overly ambitious list, the service is really cheap and slow for an establishment that tries to be up-market. Come for a look, maybe a glass of wine, don't forget to bring...
Read moreThree things that make this place so perfect. Number one since it’s a hotel this bar is open quite late and it’s quite fancy and the best place to go after a concert or a show. Number two: it has beautiful interior. It truly feels like an old American bar with its velvet chairs and the cherry wood bar. also food wise you still get really good sandwiches even late at night and as you can see from the pictures the snacks you get along with your drink are plenty. They don’t cheat you here out of two pretzels. Also drink wise they do some fun ones such as with glitter or gold in them or anything, reminding you of imperial Vienna. Number three: the staff is absolutely fantastic. These waiters are so quick and they speak so many languages as well. It is just remarkable. Also, they are always stressed to the T with with their white suits. These barkeepers truly know their craft and can whip you up anything also things that are not on the menu. A big bravo to the...
Read moreThe category of the place is well reflected in the pricing, for which you'd expect an excellent service and great food - one DOES NOT get either of the two. From the start, the orders were confused, which defies the purpose of dining as a company with some eating and some patiently observing. The 30EUR mushroom ravioli are two (!) pitiful circles filled with shredded remains of something that barely resembles mushrooms in taste, served lukewarm. Some of the dishes do not even closely resemble the description - the vegan BBQ comprised of a small steamed tofu slice, a picked cauliflower brunch and cold carrots in a sauce - all sized so that to leave more space to the whiteness of the plate rather than the food itself.
The most dissatisfying restaurant experience in a long while. Would...
