Update 1/13/2023:
I'm not sure what happened in the last 2 months that I haven't been there, but yesterday I tried all the staples that I had so many times before, and everything tasted different. And I mean different for all the bad reasons. All of it lacked taste, really all of it, it lacked knife skills (the cucumbers in the Scallion Chicken dish looked like a 5 year old got to it, which significantly alters the overall experience of this dish), the Mapo Tofu, the Chicken Soup, even the Pak Choy was tasteless. Maybe the main cook was sick, or left, or unlearned everything. As it was yesterday, I honestly can't recommend this restaurant. Change is usually good, but in this case, it's not. Please get back to your old self. Please. 🙏 Maybe it was just an off day, but I'm reluctant to spend more money to figure this out.
Old review:
Really good Chinese food, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Vienna, scratch that, it is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Vienna. The food is authentic and so delicious. Try the scallion chicken, it's so tender. Mapo Tofu is the best I know in Vienna, and the staff is always friendly and helpful, no matter if you are a regular or a first time customer. I never ate there during lunchtime, it's always full at that time. But it's very chill in the evening. One day I will manage to take pictures, too. It's hard to wait even a second...
Read moreWent to this place cos I saw its 4.9 rating.
That came as a disappointment to me as I tried it out.
Don't get me wrong, the place is nice. Food is decent, just lacks a bit of flavor. Good servings and good price. Good service too as the staff was very friendly.
However, with all that, I think a 4.9 rating was still too much. I went there at lunch time and ordered crispy duck and fried rice. Got served a delicious spicy (ginger- based) soup, which I told was included with their lunch sets.
I liked the soup and seeing that I found it spicy and seeing all the ginger in it, I thought that meant it would be really good for you. I think it's an Asian thing. The duck was very crispy, which is awesome. But the rice barely had any flavor for fried rice. I usually prefer my foods bland but not really for fried rice, I think that's a dish best served...
Read moreThis is my favorite asian restaurant in Vienna!❤ I know it since I moved to Vienna back in 2009, when the parents ran the family business. Since then, it was newly renovated and I often still visit them with pleasure for lunch or dinner. The restauant is very cosy, bright and beautiful inside, with a wide variety of very fresh, tasty food and drinks right in the city center next to Stephansdom 🥰 the sweet-sour soup is my favorite in town and all other foods are made with fresh vegetables and high quality ingridients. They also offer great lunch menues. It is a family business and the owners are great, young and superfriendly. I recommend it from the bottom of my...
