The shops in the immediate area are close on Sundays, but the Stephansdom was our destination for the day, so we figured we'd get breakfast in the area. After running around and looking into restaurants, we stumbled upon the Stadtboden. It's just a very short walk from our destination. We went inside and not a lot of people were there, which is normally a bad sign for having brunch. However the Stadtboden is inbetween homely and sophisticated and the atmosphere is very cool. We got greeted with a big smile coming in and got immediate attention. So we decided to stay and check it out. We ordered the brunch, loved the special dish that comes with it (you get to chose from a selection), loved the prosecco and loved the feeling of having a personal waitress. We also ordered some fresh orange juice and that was good, too. I really think more people should check it out on Sundays (apparently on weekdays it can be quite full), because the only slight I have is that the brunch selection was a little basic. Don't get me wrong you got ham, cheese, fresh croissant, breads, veggies, etc. you name it, but there isn't any joghurt and there are no fresh fruits either. That may be very different for days, when the area is being flooded with tourists. I hope in the future more people go there especially on Sunday mornings. It was clear that workers were proud of their place and know their stuff, so I'm very sure that they would expand their offerings to be more exotic, if more people would only chose to take advantage of what they do offer. Again, the staff is so awesome, very fast and friendly and the place itself is awesome, it's prime real estate for shopping or Dom tours and what we had was quality. Those special dishes are nothing short of amazing. I will come again, if I ever make it...
Read moreStaff was rude and standing around and helping other people i felt like they were racially discriminating because we were asian tourists. Nobody seated us and when we all had our menus closed waiting for someone to take our order, the waiter stood there and we had to flag him down. Then not only did he get my order wrong, dude tried arguing with me. I was very clear when i ordered and he seemed like he didnt want to do his job in the first place. Food wasn’t great and prices were outrageous. Before you comment telling me how this is by the opera house, there’s better tasting food around that’s more affordable. Also i find it hilarious how they leave nasty comments on other bad reviews instead of taking accountability and improving their business. Avoid this place if you’re not german...

The bartender and server were attentive, and happy to offer options. They also provided me several amazing beers to go, as I was about to hop on the train.
I got the cheese stuffed sausage for food and it was really tasty, but felt a little strange just served with a side salad and some sliced bread and mustard. Then again, I’m not Austrian!
Ultimately, really excellent dining experience highlighted by the amazing service and...
