Was aiming for Sonia's Jerk (chicken), but they were not open until 2pm (??). Some nice hawker named Elvis (aka The King) saw us walking and talked us all the way down to D Waters, known locally as Deep Creek Fish Fry (though the D Waters sign is prominently displayed). It is a little warm inside, even with the fans on and windows open. However, the waitress, Susan, was superb: patient, funny, and well informed. The curry chicken was excellent, as was the jerk chicken. Mild warning: the chicken was bone-in and from a smaller bird, so chew with caution. The white rice had a great flavor (not Jasmine, but still very good). The corn was decent and mixed well with the plate (the sides are all selective). I ate the plantains last, and they were the best I've had. The sky juice was phenomenal, thus the duplicate order. I heard the fried conch was tasty, and I tried the conch fruit salad (conch is boiled)-- not bad. Very fruity. It was a pleasant lunch, and it was nice to sit down. The menu said "gratuity included" but the hurricanes have made life complicated on the Bahamian economy-- the wait staff appreciates extra tips beyond the precalculation. It is a bit higher here, but the food is fantastic, and the need for more charity is great.

From the beginning was a disaster. Found a man on our way here who told us he would bring us to the “twin brothers”. Brings us here. I tell him this is not the twin brothers. We get into an argument. (These guys get paid on how many people they bring in) Second no working bathrooms. Ask our waiter he says someone must be In there. Ask the girl at the bar she says it’s out of service. They’re sending people across the street to use the bathrooms. Third and most hilarious part of this part is our waiter. Guy with the unleveled haircut and blank stare. (Claimed he was the owners son). Brought the food out to us then immediately self promotes his YouTube channel. I was stunned by the balls on this guy. He takes my phone and starts subscribing to his channel and all his friend’s channels. The unprofessionalism frankly had me laughing I couldn’t believe it. I would NEVER recommend this place or their food. The conk was SUPER chewy. We got charged an entree price for a snack size meal. The Mac and cheese was stale and taste-less. There bathroom being out of service and them not being transparent about it.

We were directed here by a local taxi driver and we decided to walk all the way over there from the fort and it was a good decision overall. Be prepared for people to try to literally fight over you as you walk in, two different local 'criers' of theirs were fighting over who referred us. I guess they get paid per referral? Anyway, the service was good, and the food was good. I can't speak for its authenticity, but it was not an american fare at least. I tried the BBQ Conch and it was actually quite tasty, I would recommend it to anyone that likes something that is a cross between fried calamari and fried chicken. The food is expensive, but the portions are generous at least. The big black eye that this restaurant gets though is that they enforce a 15% mandatory gratuity plus a 10% VAT (tax). To top it all off, the server does not get that 15% gratuity. Apparently the 15% goes to the restaurant. I'm not sure what kind of games they are playing or if they use that money to pay for all the Criers, but it really is shameful that you need to be expected to pay almost 50% between tax and tips.

We recently went to this restaurant thinking it was the same place we had eaten 9 years ago and totally loved; boy were we surprised. If it was the same place, it went from a 10 to a 0. If we were in the US I would have asked to speak to manager and left, definitely before we were served our food, practically 2 hours later. We are used to “Island Time” but It was way beyond that, around an hour after ordering we were told the hamburger my niece ordered they were out of buns. Around 1hr 15 min mark, my sister was brought out a plate of something, nothing we ordered. Eventually we were all served, one at a time. My niece ate her fries and bunless burger, the rest of the food (four other peoples orders) was delivered luke warm at best and pretty much just not a good quality and we left most of it. The price for this horrid meal was $180! The one bright point in this whole experience was server, this person tried so hard. I believe she was the only one working in the place, getting drinks, taking orders, apologizing to customers; we wondered if she was prepping and cooking the food when we couldn’t see. I am hoping this person finds another job quickly where they appreciate the hard work and pay accordingly. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place, we went to Dairy Queen on the way back...
