Mid-tier cruise ship buffet at Baha Mar prices.
This is one of the most costly places to eat in Baha Mar. I assumed this would mean that while its a buffet, the quality of such would be top notch. Boy was I dissappointed.
The steaks/ham were wildly inconsistant in the cuts, some OK, some way too fatty, none better than low average. All overdone. Chicken was dry. Oysters were the worst Ive ever had (this includes several $0.10 oyster nights in New Orleans). The deserts were OK, but nothing to write home about.
Sides/stews were a mess with nothing particularly flavorful - exception being the green beans which were very good. Its a tough night when the highlight of one's meal are some well cooked green beans.
We needed to constantly ask for water refills.
Atmoshpere was aliken to an upscale Ruby Tuesdays.
If you are looking for some prepare to order stations you will not get that here - save an omlette station in case you want the price of admission to go towards breakfast for dinner.
I have had some decent and some exceptional meals at Baha Mar. This falls far far below either of these categories. Would be best to avoid and just grab a couple of pizzas.
The only thing exceptional about this experience was the price tag. I love Baha Mar as a resort, but there are certainly some price points that are a bit on the high side. This place shatters that glass ceiling and accends straight into the arena of truely...
Read moreOh my gosh. Amazing breakfast buffet. Apparently the omelet is really good (coming from 2 people who’ve had it in my group. I forgot to taste it). The dumplings and egg rolls suck (they didn’t try it with the dipping sauces but if they themselves weren’t that great, you can be the judge yourself on how well you’d rate it). The pancakes (with butter and syrup? Delish), French toast (just a regular thick and buttered on both sides slice of bread cut diagonally), fresh fruits, green juice, and salmon to use for salmon bagels were great. There’s so much variety in that restaurant such as turkey, chicken, and pork sausage, roast beef w au jus sauce, ice pops, puddings, hash browns (McDonald’s style where it’s really big), roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, steamed veggies, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, yogurts, sliced salmons for bagel sandwiches, different types of bagels, peanut butters, jellies, compotes, butter, cereal, milk, salads, orange juice, coffee, creamer, water, fruit juice, green juice, whole fruits, oatmeal, croissants, chocolate croissants, fruit cream croissants, muffins, it’s just an astonishing variety of foods that are decent and tasty. Not every day is the same foods tho (ex: I noticed one day they were selling coconut flavored ice pops. The next day there were not). I enjoyed our...
Read moreThe only thing that I enjoyed was the ice cream. Nothing about the food was remarkable. For the price I expected a lot more. The raw bar was pitiful, the “oysters” were none existent, it looked like they were already eaten as there was hardly any oyster on the shell. We went on steak and sushi night. The sushi had no fish inside, two of the options had a thin slice of salmon on top but overall I expected better. The steak was a thin well done piece of flank steak. I also tried the paella as it looked like it would be good but again I was wrong… the rice had hardly any flavor to it and all the seafood that was in it was way overcooked, probably because it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a long time. I was determined to find something good to eat so I also tried a tamale from the southwestern section, it was nothing but masa the “meat” inside was pretty much nonexistent! We stopped to talk to the manager on the way out to let her know our disappointment and she was very nice and appreciated our feedback and end up coming our bill and only left us to pay the service charge which was very nice. Overall I’d rather eat at Golden Corral! Needless to say we...
