Fantastic experience from start to finish. This was our 4th night at Baha Mar and we had already had several amazing meals at Cleo, Cafe Boulud and Katsuya on previous nights and Shuang Bu kept on delivering on the exceptional meals.Upon arriving we were taken to the private room in the back of the beautifully decorated restaurant. What a luxurious spot, so warm, welcoming and exclusive. Plus it came with its own private, super opulent bathroom!!! Our party was thrilled. Our server Kendrick was outstanding. Kind, patient and very informative on the top dishes to order. We started with their specialty Zen drinks...unreal! Not too sweet and a delicious lychee at the end of the drink. We ordered a 2nd round in fact. We then ordered apps and dim sum. The conch spicy salad was fresh and delicious. The short ribs were done to perfection. The potstickers and dumplings were lovely. Our main meal consisted of bok choy, veggie fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, jumbo shrimp and the show stopping spicy beef. Each bite was better than the last. The dishes are all meant to be shared which in my opinion is the best way to appreciate all a restaurant has to offer. My entire party of 5 raved about the meal and the service by Kendrick. We actually enjoyed the experience and meal better than some of the celeb chef restaurants we ate at while at Baha Mar. Now the meal was not cheap at Shuang Bu, but honestly nothing is cheap at Baha Mar so if you aren't looking to spend a decent chunk of change on a brilliant meal than perhaps look elsewhere. Because this often overlooked restaurant at the mega resort is certainly a quiet darkhorse that deserves more attention for its ambiance,...
Read moreI was a curious what kind of Chinese food quality we would get in the Bahamas when in Toronto we have some of the best Chinese food outside Asia. We were pleasantly wowed by the dinner we had last night!
We had the conch salad which was very unique. The flavours had the authentic Sichuan peppercorn numbing which was delicious. Such a great take on a local item (conch) and the flavours of Sichuan.
The kids wanted the spring rolls. Those were okay but satisfying for the kids.
Next we had the spicy red snapper which was done very authentically just like the dishes they make in Chengdu China where this style of dish comes from and we have visited many times. It was the right amount of spice too. This was very well done.
Next we had the Peking duck since our kids like them. The chef cutting the duck coincidentally is from Chengdu where my other half is from and he told him how all the staff is from China preparing the food.
Lincoln our server was very attentive and great!
Prices are very high but to be expected at this type of resort but the food was very well done and delicious so it was a wonderful dinner.
UPDATE ON SECOND VISIT A YEAR LATER: unfortunately our second visit wasn’t as stand out as the first. Our friends that had been prior also commented about some things I noticed too. Some of the dishes became too saucy and the Peking duck seemed to be cut a bit thicker than before. Not sure if the kitchen staff turned over but it wasn’t as outstanding as our first...
Read moreDon’t be discouraged by their location, tucked away in the back of the casino. Shuang Ba is every bit worth the money.
Starting off you have the atmosphere, a dark red background surrounds your dining experience along with calm relaxing music. Each chair has a pillow back piece to allow you to take in the environment without fidgeting around in your seat. The staff is dressed in clean cut dark catering attire.
Speaking of the staff, expect a paced experience, you will not be rushed from start to finish here at Shuang Ba. Each meal is spaced perfectly out for you to digest and prepare for your next plate.
In terms of their menu, the meals are amazing. Expect to see plenty of tables order the Peking duck, brought out to you from a culinary chef, cut in front of you and served. Worth every penny in that alone. I suggest everything they have to offer and whatever you do, don’t forget to ask about dessert
Highly recommend Shaung Ba, as I said earlier, you have to work a little to find them on the casino floor but the...
