Had a itch for a sweet pastry but my usual place was closed along with most if not all bakeries due to the time of day. Decided to give The New Duff a try because I always drive pass in transit. It was after 6pm, called the contact number to find out the hours of operation. The gentleman that answered informed me the store front closed at 6:30pm. Which I was unable to make due to the distance. However, he told me they had a pop up trailer located Paradise Island that was open until 8pm. I said ok and ended the call. I want to say as a local, the PI location is not practical for Bahamians as you have to pay $2 to get over the bridge. Yes, its only $2 but it plays in when you get there and the menu prices at the location are slightly higher from whats on the menu online. (No judgment, I understand). In addition to finding free parking to get to the trailer otherwise you have to pay for it.
Overall my experience with Rae was amazing and she was very sweet and welcoming.
The food itself is different, I got the Guava Sauce (duff) and Stuffed Jerk Chicken Buns. Notice I said sauce and not duff because the duff is actually a bun?(See pics attached). The guava bun is dense, and packed with guava cubes inside. The stuffed jerk chicken buns were my favorite. The bun itself has a sweet cinnamon taste and the jerk chicken is good texture and flavor.(Think Bao Buns)
It was good and again different. I took off one star because, it did not leave me fulfilled in terms of scratching my dessert itch.(Although, in fairness could...
Read moreWe’ve been in Nassau (Paradise Island) for a week. We’ve eaten at popular places (high end and not) in the Marina Village, the Fish Fry, Cabbage Beach and at the Baha Mar hotel (high end). The “quick food” ( I refuse to call it fast food because of the connotation) at The New Duff rivals each and every place we’ve eaten. So much so, that as I write this we are eating here for the second time. We NEVER do repeats when on holiday. The New Duff is so good, we broke our unspoken rule. It’s so good that we’ve seen Bahamians and tourists alike eat here. If you’re on Paradise Island and don’t try The New Duff, your visit...
Read moreSo glad to see paradise island partner with local food vendors especially The New Duff which I’ve been eating for the last 3 years on every visit I’ve made to The Bahamas. The food is always good with fresh ingredients filled with local flavors with an international twist. The atmosphere is amazing too just for hanging out while you eat and taking in the energy of all the visitors and locals gathering together. Looking forward to going back. The Team at The New Duff especially is...
