My wife and I had dinner at t'Lammetje our first evening in Bruges and were delighted. It is unassuming from the street but opens up into warm and cheerful little restaurant. We were greeted graciously and seated inside immediately as we had reservations. We sat inside but would have been equally pleased to have sat on the terrace. The service was efficient but not in the least rushed. This is clearly a family run operation - we chatted with two of the sons of the owner who grumbled in a light-hearted way about working for their father. We shared a starter of moules, which were the tastiest, best seasoned, and and freshest I have ever had; they would easily have passed as a main dish in the United States given the quantity. My wife ordered the Flemmish beef stew and I, the fish stew. Both were excellant. Having read that the house wines were good, we ordered the house white and it was very good. My wife had a cherry beer which was vastly different from any beer we have had in the US and it was very good. My wife had a cappuccino after dinner. The bill was roughly 100 Euro which, while not inexpensive, seemed eminently fair given the quality of the meal, the atmosphere, and...

The mussels were tasty although not clearly indicated the price or what is included in the dish... the menu is really confusing and not well made. What struck me though was the service. I knew the waiters were from Eastern Europe even before I had spoken to them. Mind you, i am eastern european as well. The man who served me was rude and had no manners. Very unprofessional. During a city tour our tour guide recommended us this place and if we go there they would give us a beer. The waiter flat out exclaimed No. He made me feel so awkward and inadequate. Later on he came and said the name of the tour guide and stomped one small beer on my table. Absolutely zero class and a very bad attitude. I understand people have Off days or personal problems but this is Belgium... this is the center of Brugges. Please be civil and have a pleasant attitude towards restaurant visitors... especially since someone is actually recommending you! Way to ruin a...

disappointing:

Sauce was very liquid and with very little taste. Maybe they mixed the sauce with a lot of water to gain more money with less ingredients . First time I don’t finish my mussels in a restaurant.

mussels were not really fresh. I noticed it looking at the texture and Color and I should have trusted my guts. My boyfriend has had a stomach ache for 24 hours after going to this restaurant.

they refuse to serve tap water (but I guess we had plenty enough in the sauce…) . It’s probably a thing in Brugge i don’t know but when you charge 28 euros for poor quality mussels, you can really be more generous with water

fries were ok

price is rather high for what it is but I would not have minded if the taste/freshness had been acceptable.

The 2 stars are for the service : the waiter was very nice.

In short : a tourist trap. I Should have...

🗣️💰 Disappointing for the Price and Hype I had high expectations for this restaurant, especially since it came highly recommended by our guide. But the experience didn’t quite live up to the praise. 🍽️ The food was okay, but a bit bland and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The portion size was fair, but the presentation felt rushed and uninspired. Considering the price 💰, I expected something more refined or memorable. 🤔 What stood out most was that several other tour guides were bringing their groups to the same place while we were there. It made me question whether the recommendation was genuinely based on quality or part of a commercial arrangement. Overall, not a bad meal, but definitely underwhelming given the number of recommendations and the price point.

As part of the mainland European leg of our long overseas trip from Australia we decided to visit Bruges. We’ve been to Belgium several times in the past, but have somehow managed to miss Bruges. Anyway, Moules frites are an essential part of any trip to BE and t’Lammetje did not disappoint! From the moment we saw the wonderful narrow shopfront & walked in to a cosy dining area we were entranced. The staff were friendly & service was quick & efficient. And the moules, frites & beer were fantastic! So far on our trip we’ve had specific wants for each country & we’ve achieved that goal in Belgium. We had moules with garlic and cream sauces, and tried the local Bruges Tripel, both of which we fully recommend. Great little place, loved it.
