!NEVER CAME BACK! Food was great BUT the service from the start to end was horrendous! We were in a queue to line so I decided to get a coffee from the cafe next store while waiting. When we've got our seat, I was told to not have outside drinks, understandable of the restaurant's policy so I left it at their bar. Upon ordering, we're also told to order one main for each person. Fair enough if this is the restaurant's policy again. However after that, their staff SOPHIE demanded us to order one drink per person in an extremely rude tone. And we only found out that it's NOT their policy to order one drink per person because our friends came the next day and was not required to order one drink per person! When we're at the cashier going to pay, the staff Sophie literally pushed me away with one of her hands while serving her two dishes on another hand without saying sorry or anything. I then approached her saying she could've just say "excuse me" if I were blocking her way but her reply was "it was very hot" in an unbothered tone with no apologetic at all. The thing is that she was carrying 2 dishes on one of her hands, if the dishes were like how she say "so hot", why didn't she carry one dish at each hand? Her attitude definitely leaves me finding the so called person in charge named "BASILE" for solution. However, his "solution" was even ridiculous. After telling him the whole situation, he came with "I agree that her attitude was rude, but if she does not want to apologise you cannot force her" "you cannot force people to do stuffs in this country". Such management reply is tremendously awful. It's uncertain if such service is based on discrimination just because we're tourists. But it's definitely a total disgust & shame. If you guys are only looking for decent food but not service at all, can...
Read moreMy friend recommended this restaurant to me. The service was terrible. There was a free table on the terrace, so we were about to sit down, but then the waiter came and, without saying a word, just pointed at the people who were waiting. If the table was taken, that’s totally fine but why couldn’t he simply speak to us? Do they think I can’t speak? The restaurant was very busy and full of people. The waiters were rushing around so much that some of them bumped into us without even saying sorry. A few were friendly, but the majority were not. I also asked for ice cubes for my beer, but the barman refused, saying it was a “crime.” I still asked for ice cubes with pleeeeease and he didn’t even care about the customer’s request under the reason “crime.” Seriously, I have never had any restaurant like that in Europe in the last 9 years. It wasn’t funny at all when he said that to me. It was a hot day, if I want ice cubes in my drink, that should be fine! Terrible service. The rabbit was tender, but I don’t know if it’s worth being treated like this. And ribs are mot that good, worse than Amadeus. If I had known how unfriendly they were, and how they treat tourists like this (I’m not even a tourist), I wouldn’t have come. And probably, this was my last visit. I feel like they especially think they can treat Asians this way because we’re very passive. 한국인들 토끼고기 먹고 싶으면 가보세요 고기는...
Read moreGreat place to dine and well worth the queue.
We arrived at peak dinner time, around 7:15pm, and queued for about 45 mins (which is what we expected) in the 0C weather - the host offered for us to wait inside but we declined as the queue was moving quite quickly anyway.
We ordered the classic local dishes of Carbonnade and Stoemp, which seems like what everyone else around us ordered too. The food comes out extremely fast, which makes sense as the queue size means throughput must be key to their business model and considering the popularity of these items I can only assume they just keep cooking them rather than waiting for the actual order.
The food was extremely good. Nothing really that we can fault. The portion sizes are good, and the food is flavourful and well seasoned. It feels like really good, hearty, traditional food - bang on what we wanted for a cold night - and it is all packed with flavour.
Dessert was equally quick and tasty - a chocolate mouse from my wife and a (massive) crème brulee for me. Very hard to fault.
Overall the dining experience here is quick but not rushed, rich but not greasy, and quality but not expensive. Our pre-tip bill for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 drinks was €70 and it would still feel cheap at twice the price. Also worth noting that various signs say no cards but they did indeed take a card payment...
