Caffe Divan — Restaurant in City of Sarajevo

We were recommended here for a coffee by a local lady from sweets shop after our first unsuccessful Bosnian coffee experience in a different cafe. The result was amazing here. Its entrance is not facing to the street so we didn't know this place had such a awesome local gem! We had delicious delicious bosnian coffee, plus what made me happy as a bonus was they offered some traditional Bosnian sweets as well. We only tried the Bosnian coffee. It was a decent cup — pleasant and of average quality — and the price was more affordable compared to other places. However, we didn’t really enjoy the Turkish delight served alongside; perhaps we’re just more used to the taste of the ones in Turkey.

One thing we’ve noticed across Bosnia and Herzegovina is that napkins are rarely placed on the table by default. Even when we asked, we had to remind the staff a few times before they brought them. A small detail, but still something...

I spent a few hours here on my last night in Sarajevo. The venue is well decorated, it almost feels as if you are in a different time period in history. The atmosphere was great, lots of people enjoying a nice coffee or tea with their friends. For me this was a new experience as most places like this in Western Europe are just full of people trying to get as drunk as possible, but here at Caffe Divan, people had a great time without alcohol.
