⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Culinary Experience at Dveri Restaurant, Sarajevo My partner and I have lived in the Balkans for several years now, and we've enjoyed our fair share of fantastic meals. However, our recent dining experience at Dveri Restaurant in Sarajevo absolutely blew us away. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming, creating a cozy and intimate setting perfect for a special occasion or a relaxed evening out. But what truly sets Dveri apart is the exceptional food and the impeccable service. We started our culinary journey with two delightful appetizers: the pogaca bread and the breaded olives. The pogaca, a traditional Bosnian bread, was freshly baked and incredibly soft, with a subtle, yeasty aroma that was simply irresistible. It was served warm with a side of creamy kajmak, a perfect complement to the bread's delicate flavor. The breaded olives were a revelation – crispy on the outside, bursting with flavor on the inside. It was a unique and delicious twist on a classic appetizer, and a testament to the chef's creativity. For our main courses, we opted for two different variations of the eye fillet steak. My partner chose the eye fillet with peppercorn sauce and potatoes, while I went for the eye fillet with Gorgonzola sauce. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, exactly as we had requested. The steaks were incredibly tender and juicy, melting in our mouths with each bite. The quality of the meat was evident, and the chef's skill in preparing it was undeniable. The peppercorn sauce was rich and flavorful, adding a delightful kick to the steak, while the Gorgonzola sauce was creamy and decadent, perfectly complementing the richness of the beef. The accompanying potatoes were also perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Each element of the dish was carefully considered and expertly executed. Beyond the incredible food, the service at Dveri was truly outstanding. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, happy to answer our questions about the menu and offer recommendations. He checked on us regularly without being intrusive, ensuring that we had everything we needed. What truly impressed us, however, was the owner's passion for his restaurant. He took the time to chat with us, sharing his enthusiasm for the food and his commitment to providing a memorable dining experience. It's clear that he pours his heart and soul into Dveri, and this dedication is reflected in every aspect of the restaurant, from the quality of the food to the warmth of the service. Our meal at Dveri was more than just a dinner; it was an experience. It was a celebration of delicious food, impeccable service, and genuine hospitality. It's rare to find a restaurant that excels in all three areas, but Dveri manages to do so effortlessly. We have dined at many restaurants throughout the Balkans, and Dveri stands out as one of the best, if not the best, dining experiences we've had. We cannot recommend Dveri highly enough. If you're looking for an unforgettable culinary journey in Sarajevo, Dveri Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to this...
Read moreBooked as it is very highly rated. Seems popular among tourists but not as much among my local friends and family. But I brought my cousin to try it.
The atmosphere is the best thing about the restaurant, even if food and service overall is OK too. It looks like the indoors outdoors. Quite small, intimate and cozy with a oldschool, antique feeling.
The food was OK, nothing extraordinary but nothing wrong with it either. We had octopus and risotto with seafood. The risotto was ok even if it was more like boiled rice than a risotto. The presentation was very… rustic. Just slap it all over on side of the plate and fill the other half with chopped lettuce. I expected a bit nicer touch. The sopska Salata was probably the best thing of the meal, and that is a side salad.
The service was ok. You won’t get smiles, but they will do what you ask of them. Very similar to Bosnia overall, as a strong and professional service isn’t really their cup of tea. As a Bosnian living abroad I came to accept this. The wine was cool but could have been colder. They also didn’t chill our bottle for us during the meal until I asked for it. There were several tables with white wine without a cooler, which strikes me as odd when you order a bottle of white wine.
So overall it was a OK experience but nothing close to the 5 stars or raving reviews here. Maybe we just ordered the wrong food and it was a tiring night for the staff. But I feel safe to say that this is probably how it goes...
Read moreYear 4 visiting Sarajevo and Dveri continues to delight with their food and warm service. I have tried many of the items on the menu and am always thrilled with each mouthful. The staff, as aways, warm and inviting and always willing to accommodate. I highly recommend treating yourself to a meal - or 2 - here. I promise you you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
May and June 2024 - I love the Sarajevo and have spent 2 months here for the last 3 years here, and Dveri is one of my favorite restaurants. Small and cozy interior with a relaxed vibe. The waitstaff are all the same people and provide warm and attentive service. The menu is varied with a nice selection of local dishes all with a 'Dveri' spin added. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here from my first visit. I highly recommend enjoying a fabulous foodies expereince here and as others have already indicated, best if you make a reservation as they are always turning away diners - especially in the evening as demand IS that high. Thank you again for great food and the
Absolute deliciousness! First, the music was fantastic. It was a wonderful mix a rhythmic, mellow jazz. I had the beef with gorgonzola and tomato soup and a wonderful Shiraz. Service was perfect. I did not make a reservation as I am a solo traveler and had lunch. It is a small space and so I would recommend making a reservation if there are several...
