A Hidden Gem in the Old Town – Sah Mat Burgers is a Must!

Tucked away in the charming streets of the old town, Sah Mat Burgers may be a small spot, but it packs a mighty punch. If you’re travelling through this area, do yourself a favour and make this place a priority—trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

First off, a massive shoutout to Ervin and Ammar. These guys were not only incredible hosts, but genuinely warm and welcoming. They took the time to chat with our family and made us feel right at home—a rare and much-appreciated touch that elevated the whole experience.

Now, onto the food… We tried the jalapeño smash burger and the truffle smash burger (their most popular item), along with some fries. Both burgers were absolutely bursting with flavour, but the truffle burger? Next level. It was so good, we ended up ordering a second one on the spot. The flavour is unique, rich, and perfectly balanced.

We took Ervin’s advice and ate in—and we’re so glad we did. Everything was freshly made, hot off the grill, and served with care. Even the fries were seasoned to perfection, no detail overlooked.

Our only regret? Finding this gem on our last day. If we’d discovered it earlier, we’d have been back every single day. So do yourself a favour—scope it out early in your trip, and bring your appetite. Sah Mat is...

I used to be able to give 5 stars. But in the last year, your prices have doubled (I noticed because the price I pay for 1 meal now is what I used to pay for both mine and my husband's meals), you mess up the orders 9x/10, you say you're not working with Korpa randomly and don't answer calls at the same time while still showing open online and ARE in fact open when we go in person (but at those times, staffed by people who don't seem to care about working and give less than half the effort)... your burgers used to be cooked perfectly, now we usually have to cook them AGAIN at home because they're still bleeding, they're so raw. I'm chronically ill, so ordering is supposed to be easy and not involve me recooking your burgers here at home. This order this evening was so bloody that it soaked the bottom bun and the bottom of the box. This used to be my favourite restaurant because it gave my American self a little home-like taste for a good price.... I'm so so disappointed that it may no longer be worth buying because of the enormous rise in your prices and the effort that still has to be put in after ordering to make this edible.... If yall fix your prices and quality, I will happily come back. But for now, you've lost a customer who used to...

Good burger but had to wait more than 20 minutes to place the order.

This is one of the highest rated spots in the old town. Naturally I wanted to give the burger a try as I’ve been around the world and had great smash burgers.

I arrived in the evening and there was a queue outside. I expected that at this time of year. However, I could tell they were extremely busy. They had many burgers on the grill and were processing online orders too. I stood there for at least 20 minutes inside and before I could even place my order.

Overall I was waiting for at least 45 minutes before I got my order made. I get that they’re busy, but it just seems like they’re doing too much with the online orders (maybe need to prioritise the in person) or need another grill.

The burger itself tasted good. But admittedly because I had to wait so long, I was frustrated whilst eating so couldn’t really appreciate it. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to enjoying this.
