A hidden GEM in the centre of Sarajevo (Old Town)

I found this place almost by accident, while walking in the city centre. It is in fact located in a narrow street, 5-10 meters from the main street. The location and its vibe it's relaxing and you feel like you're resting at home. The coffee (Espresso in my case) is very good, but what it stands out are of course the cakes and pastries. Every cake I tried was amazing, tasty and fresh, as well as walnuts cookies and pastry (see pictures). The service is also perfect, the owner of the place is a lady that bakes all her cakes and food in the store and she will make you feel at home with a smile and kindness.

I was here with friends May 12 and had their excellent traditional Bosnian coffee which is better than such served in 90% of the cafes around, if served at all. I was delighted to learn they offered delicious homemade desserts and I had the chocolate cake with cherries and walnuts. It was fantastic. There was also cheesecake and a walnut loaf but I’ll be back to have those! Prices are reasonable. I’ve paid much more elsewhere for inferior desserts so this is a welcome treat! The atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. We sat inside on comfy seats and there’s a patio, too. Rahatlook is a charming cafe just off the main bustling streets of old town where you are guaranteed a smile, authentic Bosnian beverages, and a sweet homemade treat of natural ingredients. Many bakeries are using margarine, artificial whipped cream, etc in their versions of classic desserts but Rahatlook uses butter and real whipped cream. This alone would keep me returning. The added benefits of friendly owners (mother and son were lovely to speak with), comfortable vibe, and reasonable prices are icing on the cake (so to speak). ;-) Their tufahiya and orasnice are the best I've had and their boza and juniper water is addicting.
