Disclosure: this review is written by a former Drake Staff member. Are you hungover? Of course you are. In that case definitely choose the Drake on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch. Opening at 11, you can get a Drakewich for 10 bucks and a caesar for 4. Making it the most affordable meal anywhere in Canmore including McDonalds. If you had 6 friends with you, maybe you could assemble a breakfast in your hotel room for the same price per head, but I doubt it. If you didn't wash off your entry stamp from the live band the night before you get 15% off your bill. I was served by Christine who is legendary in Canmore as perhaps the most friendly and effective server in town. I don't know anyone currently working hospitality in the Bow who has been at the same venue longer than her and I always look forward to seeing her when I come to town. The food was delivered hot and quickly and I never had to wait for a refill. She's at the top of her game. Ed, the head chef, prepared my sandwich and it was delicious down the lettuce (which was crisp). At 10 bucks a hit he assembles the Drakewich like it's high tea at the Chateau. Clearly the man loves what he does and that comes through in his meals. I could go on, but I'm gonna go back to staring at the mountains while I sip my Caesar. Thanks Drake Team! I'll be back soon (tonight for live music, probably).

Overall, a fun night out but don’t expect it to be spectacular. Somewhat of a tourist trap. Drinks are touch steep but plenty of options on hand. Service is a touch slow, with lengthy wait times to order drinks or food. Food is mediocre, standard pub fare dishes. Lots of drink options available. Prices are expensive due to location being somewhat of a tourist trap. Atmosphere is dark, dingy and dirty. Billiards are available to play but there are several groups that will make wagers and hustle. Live music available on some nights. Floors can be sticky. Overall, not bad if you have nowhere else to go in Canmore. But would not return, or choose to frequent with the knowledge I now have.

We visited The Drake on a Friday night with family and friends who were visiting from the UK for a family wedding on the weekend. It was a great choice! The staff were very accommodating in finding us extra chairs as our party grew, were very attentive and made great suggestions for drinks, and were very quick in sorting a couple of issues with food/drinks that arose. The food was great and the portions were a good size and very satisfying to those who had just flown in that day! We stayed on to watch the live music and enjoyed the atmosphere. Next time we are in Canmore, The Drake will be where we visit! Thank you for helping us kick off what was a great weekend of celebrations.

Absolutely terrible and uneasy first time experience! My fiance and I went here to watch live music tonight and were almost immediately were turned away. The doorman ( ginger hair, backwards ball cap and tattoos on his face and neck) took our IDs but we didn't have cash for cover and needed the ATM. He asked us two more times who was paying and we reiterated that we needed to take out money from the machine; we didn't understand his aggressive tone to be asking the same question over and over. After he had already handed me my ID back, the doorman finally pointed towards the hallway behind him and stated that he needed to hold on to the ID of the paying person, so my fiance went to get money for cover. With a lady standing along side of the ATM it made it hard to view the machine and my fiance walked passed it. The doorman, more aggressively again, yells at my fiance that he passed the machine and was headed towards the female bathroom. My fiance immediately turned around to see the machine and started to take out money and commented that the doorman's behaviour was insane. The doorman told us that it was it and we were out, yelling to someone else to get us out of here. Nobody came and it felt like the doorman was posturing for no reason, but when my fiance came back with cash the doorman refused. My fiance asked to speak to someone else and Sean came over, whoever he is - there was no introduction of title or asking us what the situation was. Sean instantly said that we were deemed too drunk to enter and didn't even want to listen to anything we had to say. If one beer with supper is too intoxicated to enter a pub, then I guess they're right?Meanwhile, my sober fiance was the dd for our evening. With Sean's unwillingness to attend to the situation and the overly aggressive doorman, I felt veerry uncomfortable and we left as requested. I do not feel confident with how this situation was handled by the uninviting staff. I'm rather disappointed with this momentary visit and would be apprehensive if you...

Stopped in this place about a week ago. Food was good. We all enjoyed a lot. However we did not enjoy the server at all. As two of us were not feeling that great, we went there wanting to have some drinks as well but as we were not feeling all that great we decided not to. We just wanted to eat. The server kept asking if we wanted to order drinks a number of times which was very annoying. Through out the whole time we were there she was nice and pleasant. Once I paid the bill though she complete changed. At this point I need to say that all four of us being there are Canadians. The reason I mention this is because the server did not like the fact that I tipped her less than the 15% that usually people tip. She asked if the service was ok and I said it was fine. She then proceeded to scold me like a little child and say that in Canada the minimum tipping is 15%. And that we should know for the next place we go to. I felt very annoyed by this comment first of all because this showed that what she did she did for the tips. Second of all she assumed we were not from Canada just because we were speaking a different language. She was unacceptable! She needs to know that sometimes people don't tip a lot not out of not liking the service but some times people are on a budget and cannot afford to tip big. While tipping is something that we usually do it is not mandatory and she should have been greatfull to get what I gave her. Due to the fact that I was not feeling well I did not say anything at that time. As it sank into me more, it just didn't feel right so that's why I am writing this review. This was the evening...

I’ve always liked this pub for its live music and relatively good pub grub and the service is generally very good and consistent, I recently shared a meal with friends here and found that they had recently changed the menu so many of my favourites were no longer available, undaunted I tried their new BBQ menu because on paper it sounded really good, what I received was not as advertised or expected though... I ordered the chicken which showed up bland and tasteless as well as so dry that it was almost desiccated my friend had also ordered a similar item and experienced the same thing which we mentioned to the waitress who told us that she would speak to the kitchen, quite a while later she showed up with our bill and she told us that the kitchen agreed with our findings but she didn’t comp or discount us in anyway in fact she didn’t even apologize, I realize that many of the clientele are tourists and probably won’t return but I’m a local and I bring visitors to places like this on my recommendation and frankly I found myself apologizing to my friends for their poor quality meals and obviously my bad choice in bringing them here. I guess I felt that the establishment should have exercised a little more compassion and pride in their product and should have offered a replacement (there was ample time) or at least discounted or comp’d the...
