I usually look up reviews before I order on skip the dishes. I was so hungry that I order and only read reviews while I was waiting .
With all the posted reviews honestly I was scared and deeply regretting my choice! Though once the food came I was reassured and I don’t normally even make reviews I just wanted clarify it is no where near as bad as people make this place to be , and I’m a tough critic!
We order the butter chicken and chicken korma. The korma was super yummy , mild and creamy. I got some veggie samosa and they were also pretty good. We got an array of naan and though they aren’t the traditional fire oven naans they aren’t bad! They came hot and were more pizza dough like. The rice didn’t taste as that super clean and aromatic basmati from other Indian restaurants but it still went great with the Korma. We were so full after our Korma that we didn’t make it to finish the Butter chicken. Though I had to have a little taste because was so curious about all the bad reviews on it . No it’s not the typical butter chicken , it doesn’t taste like there is much cream in it though it is smooth , rich and a little sweeter than the average. It is different though not bad !! We also have a ton of leftovers ! This place has bad wrap for no reason . Some people are really trying to bring this place down . All in all I rate this place a 3.9 Good...
Read moreThe place is well and conveniently located in downtown close to one of the biggest libraries in Calgary, there is some kind of people on the streets that firmly suggest to to pay attention to children which is seen in other downtown areas as well, the exterior appearance of the building is descent, there is more than two food places within the same face of the building creating a lil bit of confusion but still nothing to worry about. At the interior when you enter the smell is pleasant and the general appearance is clean and organized, the cook looks clean and experienced, the counter was cleaned constantly while I was there. Now the kind of food having a good taste and acceptable look, might not be the best recommended for a daily meal, could be high cholesterol and calories, I would come to this place if wanted to have that kind of food no problem. Prices a quiet faire and there is not alcoholic...
Read moreI was actually surprised! Didn’t expect to find a decent East Indian flavour in this hole in the wall spot but went in to try it and was not disappointed! It turned out to be one of the few Calgary Indian places serving reasonably well flavoured East Indian meals. We got the butter chkn lamb curry chkn kebab and the tandoori chkn. And chkn samosa. All were well flavoured except for the samosa - will not be ordering that again as they seemed to be grocery store bought frozen boxed samosa and that’s why one star less for me. Naan are well sized and fairly good too. Will be going back for sure we’re luckily close by. Butter chkn was a little on the too-sweet side. Service was good and friendly but the place could use some cleaning and a facelift both inside...
