Marcello's Market and Deli — Restaurant in Calgary

Hello I popped in here for lunch today after I had a medical health appointment which is private but no it was not a colonoscopy. DRY DRY DRY!!! The food was so horribly dry it felt like swallowing sand from the desert! I had a chicken sandwich and my goodness gracious it was almost inedible. I was so famished and weak after my appointment I had to keep eating so I drank along with it so I could swallow and I went through 2 and a half cans of fresca just to get this sandwich down. Even the pepperoncini was dry, and please explain to me how a pepperoncini kept in a jar of brine could get dry?? By leaving it sat out in your grubby deli for too long! I was actually recommended to this place by a woman from book club named Janine and I will not be talking to her again, but it is no surprise she liked this place as every time she hosts book club her appetizers are like something from a 1970s infomercial.

I strongly suggest to anyone and everyone to NOT BOTHER with this place!!! Not worth your time or hard...

Where to start, how about no dishes instead they opted for styrofoam takeaway plates or plastic containers with no option to recycle anywhere in the area. The prices are outlandish for the quality of food offered. Be smart and stick to lighter fooslds such as salad. If you jump into the heavier items like Shepard pie or rice and butter chicken you can easily wind up paying $20 a plate. Also I did not find water other than expensive water bottles. Why does this place hate the environment so much? Or is it they just don't care and want to squeeze every last nickel out of the profitability margins. Community natural foods has a much better buffet with free filtered water and no harmful environmental cost.

Until these guys tighten up the ship show they are running I would recommend wandering...

Pretty made lunches are great. Breakfast yesterday was painful. The lady in front of me had mold on her bagel. I asked for a wrap that specified avocados as an ingredient. She left to the back room for about 5 minutes and came back empty handed. I then changed my order, was asked what veggies I wanted and mid sentence she started helping another person. when she came back to me and asked for salsa and she didn't know if they had any. Found it then sent and hid in the back to talk to someone about it which looked like it also may have had mold on the top....
