Ssome Korean restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

If it is possible, I want to give 0 star to the service.🙃🙃🙃

The food was small portion size， relatively expensive，and the service was really really disgusting！！！！

We know we are late today due to some reasons, when we arrive there, it was around 8:30pm, and we tried our best to finish our foods before 9:30.

However, the waitress kept urging us to leave before 9:30 for a few times! When it was 9:29p.m., one of the waitress put the bill on the table to force us to pay and leave, and said we only have 1min left, then we said we still have a little foods to eat(around 5mins), but the waitress tried to give us a container. Then we paid at 9:31, and we left at 9:33.

We spent around $110 and treated like this, and what’s hilarious thing is that we didn’t full enough, so we have to find an another restaurant to eat, and it happened at Friday night, which was supposed to be a wonderful girls night!

I personally will never ever go there again in my life. The service is awful and disgusting, and I really don’t recommend the food either!

This is not the first time that customer complaint about the bad service when I look through the comments. I hope the manager should attach importance to this matter, because we have really bad experience, and we don’t want next customer have this kind of experience too.

You called me that you changed the table for us and can leave the reservation till 7:30, so one of the girl arrived there around 7:30.

What we are complaining about is that the attitude you gave us the bill, put it on the table and said we only have 1min, and didn’t let us finish the foods which would take about 5mins.

We didn’t full tonight because we wanted to order a few dishes, and after we’ve gone through all the menu, then we would like to order more. However, the waitress said it would probably don’t have time for us to order more, I don’t remember the whole sentence, but the basic meaning is we should eat randomly and get out of here ASAP. That’s why we didn’t order more later.

The waitress told us you have reservation after 9:30, I totally understand that our lateness may cause your inconvenience, and we have tried our best to finish foods. But you guys can’t give us even 5 more mins to finish when there are no customers...

This is my favourite Korean restaurant.

I live in a city that’s 3 hours away and sometimes I’ll drive to Calgary just so I can eat the food here and then I’ll drive back home to Edmonton after.

What I always recommend to EVERYBODY is to try their Garden Salad. The dressing is sweet and it makes me excited to eat veggies when I generally hate doing so.

The corn cheese is literally just corn and cheese with butter. It’s a little different from what you’d get from other Korean restaurants where you’d get that creamy mayo-like sauce mixed with it. The dish was still delicious though.

The Chicken and Cheese is sweet and spicy made with dark meat. So you know it’s going to be JUICY. It’s good enough to eat by itself, but even better if you have it with rice or even the Garden salad I recommended above.

I’m a huge takoyaki lover and I tend to order it whenever it’s available. I can safely say that the ones they offer here are one of the best that I’ve tried so far. They’re generous with their squid flakes which I love. The sauce isn’t overpowering, and the crispiness is just right.

And lastly, the spicy rice cake with cheese and noodle is a classic favourite. The rice cakes are gooey and easy to eat. The ramen noodles and cheese is an excellent touch. There’s also a bit of a kick to this spice as should be expected. If you’re like me and your spice tolerance isn’t that high, you can always pair it with the Garden salad to cool it down. Visited Ssome on Fri night, it was my 3rd visit.

What I liked the most was grilled pork feet. I usually get it from grocery store, which is sliced thinly but this one was cut into cubes, grilled nicely, a lot of flavor. It went so well with spicy dipping sauce, it’d be perfect for beer! Their fried chicken was also so good, it was as good as Korean fried chicken shops, if not better. Outside was so crispy, chicken was juicy and soy sauce flavored sauce was just delicious! We also got pork bone soup, it was ok, I’d love more veggies in it, pork bone soup should have potato and perilla seeds, none of those were in the soup, only veggie in the pot was bean sprout.

Their potion size is extra large, chicken and pork feet was enough for 5-6 ppl. Which is good and bad because if you come with 2 ppl, you would not want to order more than 1 dish…as it is a LOT and also each item is pricy because of the potion.

Another thing is that they do not serve side dishes. To me, I like having side dishes at Korean restaurant so it was a bit disappointing. Also, even you order hot pot, rice is not included.
