Sat at a dirty table;Service tonight was absolutely terrible, 20 minutes after we were seated the server finally came to take our drink order. Everyone ordered water (5) and a drink we also placed an order for 2 appetizers as we were starving and so far service hasn’t been the best. No less than 15 mins later she brought 4 alcoholic drinks and 1 water (forgot the other 4 waters) The water glass she did remember to bring had visible lipstick stains on it but we waited probably 15-20 more mins for her to even come back . When she came back to bring our appetizer we let her know about the dirty cup but she walked away before we could even attempt to place a food order. So we are over 45-50 minutes here still no chance to order our actual food .Waited over 15 mins for her to bring a new water back to us, at this point we decided to not order food and just pay and go somewhere else. I’ve never had to walk out of a restaurant for such terrible service we were there for over an hour and didn’t even get to order our main dishes. 60$ for nachos and two drinks, to then have to go to another restaurant to eat an actual meal. I would say the server had too many tables and may have been overwhelmed, it doesn’t help that she has to run up and down the stairs every time someone needs something but the other side of the restaurant was jammed packed and seemed to be running just fine. We were really excited to try this place but really disappointed hopefully if we ever decide to give it another go service will be improved, seemed like our money wasn’t wanted .

Cannot make this up. Photo says it all. Ate here August 9, 2023 This is the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Per the menu: “Buttered sliced brioche, fried chicken, roasted jalapeno aioli, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce and pickles” Reality: two slices of wonderbread, a Kraft Single, and about 1oz of chicken batter, no chicken. Why serve it on wonderbread instead of a brioche bun? I know Salt Yard wasn’t out of brioche buns, because my friends got them on their Sy Burgers. As if I wasn’t going to notice that? Also, the waitress told us flat-out that they did not serve Keith’s, in cans or in bottles (even though it was on the menu). Then like 1 minute later she served 2 Keith’s to the table behind us? Honestly more funny than irksome, because why would you lie about that? She served maybe 6 Keith’s during our stay to other tables yet maintained to us that there were no Keith’s. What the hell is up with this place? And why is the chicken burger $20? It’s half the size of a Junior Chicken from McDs, which is like $2? I’ve never been to a worse restaurant - not only in Halifax, but maybe ever. also WHY is the lowest tip option 18%? Food looked like a blindfolded kid made it in a Fisher-Price play kitchen. Get real?

We had a great time at Salt Yard Social on the Halifax waterfront! The vibe is fantastic — lively yet relaxed, with a nice crowd and a DJ playing live music that really adds to the atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy the waterfront and unwind. We started with the fried calamari as an appetizer — it was super fresh and perfectly cooked. The dip that came with it had a nice dill aroma that really elevated the dish. For mains, we had the fish and chips and the smashed burger. The haddock in the fish and chips was incredibly fresh and flaky — definitely the standout of the night. The smashed burger was good too — classic and satisfying, like you’d expect from a solid kitchen. They also have a great selection of tap beers, and I really enjoyed their spicy margarita — flavorful with just the right amount of heat. If you’re looking for good food, quality drinks, and a fun waterfront vibe, Salt Yard Social is definitely worth a visit!

Decided to stop in here for a bite to eat and to spend a little time watching the boats on the harbor and people watching on the pier. We were told we could have a seat on the upper deck as long as we were gone within an hour as they had a group that was coming in and we said that would not be a problem. Once we got seated, we were brought water and menus. After placing the order, we sat there and roughly 10 minutes later, our pizza showed up. It showed up even before the drinks so we had a little bit of a laugh about that, but after digging into the pizza, we found the dough to be completely raw except for a little bit of color on the very extreme outside of the crust. server was apologetic, but we didn’t feel he was very sincere so we said we were just going to have our drinks and then leave. We did see him go down to his manager, and the manager showed the people working in the kitchen the condition of the pizza, but the manager never came over to apologize or make any Attempt to interact with us. Will not go back and recommend anyone to ensure they thoroughly look at their meal...
