I struggle a bit on what rating to give. I would say 3.5 but it doesn’t allow for half stars. 3 might be too harsh, so I will put 4 stars. It was by far the worst yakisoba I have had and I have had a lot. I will explain....we ordered from Uber eats, unfortunately, our driver had another delivery and stayed at that location for almost half an hour. Although, our food was still warm when we got it, the warm things were a bit soggy(which I can deal with), but the raw fish was all warm. So it would have been better if they separated warm and cold. We had salmon and tuna maki, both were normal nothing special, nothing wrong and a good price. Also a yam tempura roll, again nothing special and perfectly fine. Price was the same as other sushi places. The donburi was a very small amount, maybe half the bowl full. At first I thought it had a decent amount of meat until I actually looked at it and found that most of it were mushrooms, which my daughter doesn't eat and she took them all out. But it was also cheaper then other places, so maybe it evens out. It was a bit of a disappointment. I never tasted it, but my daughter said it was decent, this was her first time eating donburi so I wouldn't count on her taste buds. So it was cheaper, not much beef, but tasted decent for her. Now I am picky, I usually only get yakisoba from sushi places, it is my go to meal. This was my first time eating at Momo. The amount you get for the price was fine. The price was lower than others, but also you didn't get a full container full. First thing I noticed was the noodles were more like udon from my perspective. They were a thicker noodles and maybe that helped with it not being so soggy from the drive. However, I don't prefer thicker noodles. There wasn't a good amount of beef just the like the donburi, but I think that keeps their price lower. If the price was higher I would not have been okay with the amount of beef. They had a decent amount of veggies, including broccoli, onions, a few peppers etc...the problem was solely with the flavor. Or lack of it, there really was no taste and part of the noodles had nothing on them. For people who don't like a lot of flavor, you would love this. It had no normal yakisoba flavor, I was confused and thought they may have sent the wrong dish. I did not enjoy it at all. I ended up having to try flavor it myself with what I had at home. It did make it better, however, I still didn't enjoy it. I also did not like that on their Uber eats page you cannot add comments or changes. When I called after placing the order, they were still willing to make the accommodations I asked for, so that did work out. The accommodations I asked for were, teriyaki sauce on the side for my yam roll and no Wasabi or ginger. As for the teriyaki sauce, it was not great for my taste. It also had very little flavor as well as not very sweet. Overall it tasted bland. Some people may like that. The prices are decent, the portions represent the price. We may go back there, but it would be hard for me as I would not be willing to get the Yakisoba again. I would recommend sticking to rolls. Hope...
Read moreI went with a large group of friends and the waitresses were rude and dismissive. They also lied about prices of certain items and then made it cost more on the bill. On top of that, after half of my group of friends had left and as we were getting up to leave, the waitress blocked us from leaving and accused one of my friends of not paying her bill, even though we had all seen her leave her money on the table to cover her bill. Then, the waitress kept blocking our path and not letting us leave, raising her voice and trying to force us to pay the other person's bill even though we had already paid our own and so had she. Eventually, she let us count out some of the change that was on the table but wouldn't even bring out the other money that was on the table to double check that everyone had paid. Obviously there wasn't enough change to cover my friend's bill because she didn't bring out the other money, so we ended up having to pay more money on top of our own bills so that we would be permitted to leave. Once we had left though, one of my friend's said that she had left a 6 dollar tip and another person had left a 4 dollar tip which would have almost completely covered the supposed "unpaid bill". Terrible service and they lied multiple times so that they could get more money from us. The sushi wasn't even that good and fell apart when you tried to pick it up because it was cut too thinly. I will never be going back and will tell other people not to go because of how terrible my...
Read moreAppauling! What a horrible experience!!! For years I have had so many people tell me how great Momo Sushi is and I finally decided to try it last week as I already have my favorite places (Blue Tail in Rutland and Sushi Q in West Kelowna in case someone wants edible food).
I went there for lunch and got the Chicken Udon to go and brought it back to work. The soup wasn't even hot, and the vegetables were completely raw, as though they had been thrown in the broth right before it hit the bowl. No one wants to eat raw onions when they are dealing with customers all day!
But I almost threw up when I saw the "chicken"!!!! Huge chunks of just skin! The whole bottom of the bowl was full of just skin, with maybe five very small (1 inch by 1/4 inch) pieces of actual meat. the skin was so fatty and disgusting looking I pulled it out of the soup and threw it all out. I couldn't even eat it because my stomach was turning and I thought I might get sick.
I realize that broth is made from the skin and bones etc. but they should be removed from it before it is served to a customer! I have tons of experience working in restaurants and I KNOW that should not be in the soup!
With eight sushi places downtown the competition is too great for a restaurant to make an error like this. I refer people every day to places to eat and I will certainly direct them as far from Momo's as possible! I still feel sick to my stomach just writing...
