This place is a little gem in old Montreal. We were walking past this cafe and we were lured in by a whiff of coffee. As we entered, we saw someone with an affogato, and it looked very enticing with a cannoli as a garnish. You get to choose between hazelnut and pistachio for the base. We got the hazelnut one and the barista did a little show with the espresso pour. The affogato was delicious, and we inspired a few others in line to get the same while we were enjoying ours. The place is cozy with nice window seats, and music, and add it to really fun baristas who seem like they are enjoying what they do. We wanted to get their tiramisu as a lot of the reviews mention, but they were out of it. We went to the cafe the next day, and they were out yet again! But we tried the cafe crema instead, it is basically their coffee icecream and it is perfect for the summer! I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love coffee flavored desserts, and I loved my experience the two times I have been here! And before leaving Montreal, we will probably visit a few more times for the elusive Tiramisu.

I am not religious, but if there is a heaven, there will be cafes and bakeries galore on every street to sit, converse, read, people watch... all the great things in life. And perhaps, on one of these streets, there would be a Cafe Olimpico. Foremost, when a small cafe imports cakes from abroad, you know they are serious. And my goodness gracious, the almond cake and tiramisu, both imported from Italy, are divine intervention itself. The lattes and coffees are also exceptional, and this is coming from someone who often feels that coffee is overrated. I also loved the indoor seating options, which, though limited, offered a relaxing setting inclusive of window views of a quaint alley (particularly atmospheric on rainy and/or snowy days). I always claim that you know a place is truly good when you want to come back the next day, and at Cafe Olimpico, I did just that, and if I lived in Montreal, would come again and again.

Still serving their incredibly SMOOTH and CREAMY coffee, and as always they have a great FRIENDLY STAFF which makes you feel right at home. The vibe and layout of the place made us feel like we were in a café back in Italy. They did a great job at keeping the concept and decor consistent with the European and multicultural blend that makes the Montreal Old Port so special and appealing to the public. I love the fact that it's located in a highly touristic part of the city and next door to the William Gray Hotel which makes you feel away from home with a high inflow of tourists speaking different languages. Café Olimpico in the Mile End district has always been one of my favorite coffee spots in Montreal. However, this new location in Montreal's Old Port area has given me a unique coffee experience altogether leaving me very impressed.

First off, I'd like to point out that this is the first time in my many many years of my going to Olimpico (on Saint-Viateur and Saint-Vincent), that I've had a negative experience so I'm sure this is an isolated case attributed to new and clearly untrained staff:

A friend and I came by for a couple of espressos.. the place wasn't busy at all (it was a rainy day).. there were several staff behind the counter (much more than usual) and we were served by a red-haired young man.. well, suffice it to say that the service wasn't the usual pleasant and friendly kind and the coffee was surprisingly bad;

  1. he refused to serve our espressos in regular cups, despite the fact that, when asked, we clearly told him that we wanted our coffee "for here" - he was insinuating that we were going to leave with the cups - he insisted on serving us in cardboard cups, unless we drank our coffee sitting on the little tables right in front of the counter or standing right in front of him, - fwiw, we always drink our espressos 1 shot right in front of the cash and leave right away. His attitude was incredibly unpleasant and totally uncalled for..

  2. they got our orders wrong (we ordered 1 espresso corto and 1 lungo).. they started serving a cortado and something that looked like an americano and when we pointed out that it's not what we ordered, they guy at the counter started arguing

  3. finally, in the end, we ended up receiving 2 corto (at which point we were kind of fed up and were just happy to leave so we didn't say anything) - but these espressos were HORRID!!.. super bitter with a very chalky aftertaste.. totally unexpected

Never had such an experience at Olimpico.. so once again, I'm certain that it's an isolated incident.. but the...

I had an extremely upsetting and disappointing experience at Café Olimpico in Montreal. At first, everything was going well—I was joking around with the cashier while paying, and we were having a good time. But then another staff member, a tall, blonde, tattooed guy working behind the barista counter, completely ruined the mood with his rude and racist behavior.

When I politely asked if my iced latte had been mixed, he snapped, “It’s your job to do that.” I calmly told him he could speak more respectfully to clients, and instead of responding professionally, he mocked me by repeatedly saying “habibi, habibi” in a sarcastic and condescending tone—clearly targeting me for being Arab.

When I asked for his name (at least five times), he refused to give it. Instead, he stepped out from behind the counter and tried to intimidate me, as if hoping I would react so he could shift the blame onto me. I didn’t respond to his provocation, but the whole situation left me feeling humiliated and unsafe.

This type of behavior is completely unacceptable. No customer should ever face racism or intimidation—especially not in a diverse city like Montreal. I sincerely hope Café Olimpico takes this seriously and enforces proper training and...

I recently visited Caffè Glacè at Olympico Café in Old Port Montreal, and it was an outstanding experience that I can't wait to share. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, blending a cozy café vibe with a touch of urban energy. It’s a perfect spot to relax and soak in the local culture.

The highlight of my visit was, without a doubt, the delicious coffee. Their specialty drinks are expertly crafted, and I particularly enjoyed their signature espresso, which was rich and flavorful. The baristas are knowledgeable and passionate about their craft, offering great recommendations and ensuring that every cup is made to perfection.

What truly sets Caffè Glacè apart is the delightful selection of pastries and light bites. I indulged in a fresh pastry that paired perfectly with my coffee, and it was simply divine. The combination of quality ingredients and attention to detail shines through in every item on the menu.

The location in Old Port adds to the charm, as it’s surrounded by beautiful scenery and bustling streets. Overall, Caffè Glacè at Olympico Café is a gem in Montreal. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for exceptional coffee and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I can’t...
