Eating breakfast and having our coffee here (3/30/2025) and this little café is absolutely exquisite. For drinks, I had an iced latte with maple syrup and my husband had a long espresso. Both were excellent. My husband enjoyed that the espress was quite strong, and my latte had an excellent flavor. For food we had ham and cheese croissants, I had a bostock, and my husband had a lavender scone. Again, everything was scrumptious! The ham and cheese croissants (homemade pastry at the café) were a revelation, and my bostock was the best sweet pastry I've had in a very long time. The lavender scone was amazing, with a lovely lavender scent that didn't become a soapy taste on the palate. The ambience is lovely, with an old-fashioned vibe and an open bakery. The smells of the fresh baked goods wafts over you enticingly as soon as you open the door To boot, the owner/proprietor is an absolute gem of a human! Funny, personable, helpful, and eager to provide excellent service. Everyone should come visit Café Mère-Grand!

If you're visiting Montreal, Chez Mère Grand is an absolute must-visit. I stumbled upon this charming spot as it was conveniently located right across from my hotel, and it turned out to be a true hidden gem. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, a perfect reflection of the exceptional people who run it. The staff is genuinely some of the best I’ve ever encountered – friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their personal touch makes every visit feel special. Everything here is freshly made, and you can tell they invest a lot of time and effort into ensuring the highest quality of not just the food but also the music and the ambiance. It’s this attention to detail that makes the experience truly unforgettable. Chez Mère Grand captures the heart of Montreal’s hospitality and artistry. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and make time to stop by—you won’t regret it!

Gorgeous Fabulous Corner Cafe 🌸🌺 The entrance is beautifully designed with floral, located at the corner of a building. Everything about this cafe is carefully designed and sculpted, so much to take in and see. A comfortable place for a day visit, co-working, reading or just people watching. The owner is super welcoming and funny, he is also super passionate and it shows in his excitement to share the day's specialties and hand-crafted coffees. My boyfriend and I had the grilled cheese, flakey chocolate danish, flat white ☕ and a cold press drink. Spent a brief 30mins absorbing the spectacular space but definitely needed more time. Will be sure to return and try out everything on the menu. Definitely one of my favorite cafes to capture photos. Enjoy and hope you may find yourself in this captivating place soon.

The croissant was incredible but not the guy at the cash. Left the cafe with an ice coffee and a croissant… i was shaking my coffee to mix but then the lid gave up and my coffee fell on the sidewalk. Went back in to kindly let him know and he says okay im going to make another one (didnt even ask him to make a new one).. few seconds later he goes out to check the mess, comes in to say hes not not giving me another coffee because i had airpods on when i talked to him and that i didnt clean up the spilt coffee. I get it, my bad but the guy was just rude, asked me get out even though i wasnt even making a fuss. He assumed that bc i had my airpods on, that i wasnt listening to what he said, had bad hearing when he was talking and had to ask him a few times to repeat what he said but since he doesnt enunciate his words properly, i did not understand till now, no idea what he said. Although i wasn’t offered another coffee, i did clean up the mess.

Anyways the one sip i took of my ice coffee was great. To the guy working that day, please stop assuming, give the benefit of the doubt to your customers. We’re just trying to start our day well, and since my coffee fell…

To anyone who has trouble speaking up, people with social anxiety and people who are afraid to confrontation for minor inconveniences: dont bother going here. One thing goes wrong and they become just rude. Read the other reviews with 3 less stars. Read how they reply to their customers. Really shows how they handle...

I absolutely love this cute cozy cafe. I stopped while wandering the streets after an appointment nearby. I stumbled upon this adorable cafe and decided to order an ice latte. Given the circumstances that we are still in a pandemic the barista met me at the door where there was a desk with sanitizer and all. I ordered a DECAF iced latte and before making it he asked me which milk I preferred. (Thank god he asked because I’m lactose intolerant and I completely forgot to say that). They have a wide range of milk alternatives like almond, oat, soy and I think cashew if I’m not mistaken .. I can’t quite remember. Anyway, I chose oat milk and OMG was it ever delicious. For a decaf iced latte the flavour was so rich and even the oat milk had a delightfully creaminess to it. Omg I was so so so pleased. I’m also gluten intolerant so I asked him if they have any snacks, he said they make sandwiches and he then offered to make my tuna sandwich into a salad, ALSO DELICIOUS. And I wanted sweets so I bought a gluten free dairy free brownie and he offered me a slice of an Italian cake/pie that was almond paste based with no milk no gluten. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! Omg I will definitely come again and tell all my friends. Great staff, GREAT COFFEE and great food. 5 stars for this cute little cafe, I’m so happy I walked down Berri and discovered this gem. Good luck with everything and hope to...

Wish I could recommend this place as the food and drinks were very nice. However, the proprietor essentially accused us of trying to steal a pastry from them when they mistakenly left it off our order. We ordered 3 plates, a cheese scone, a financier and a plain croissant. The scone and financier arrived with our drinks but not the croissant. Easy mistake to make, I simply went up to the counter to politely inform them of the missing item. The proprietor informed me I was wrong and that he had certainly brought us a croissant. I was baffled and tried to explain that neither myself nor my partner had been brought or had eaten a croissant. They were having none of it. I returned to my table and prepared to leave when the gentleman came over, bringing a croissant, and doubled down by stating that there were two plates on our table which proves we were served a croissant... when we had ordered three plates. It's a simple mistake to miss an item from an order, they are running a business and have other customers to serve, but I have never witnessed such a response to this situation from anyone in hospitality before. Rather than rectifying the simple mistake we were made to feel like thieves, over a croissant! It was rude, embarrassing for us and ruined our morning. Cannot recommend this otherwise lovely place due to...
