Golden Thali — Restaurant in Montreal

I recently dined in and encountered a mix of positive aspects and areas needing improvement. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, but were served Paneer Tikka Masala instead. Upon inquiring, the server discovered that a mix-up had occurred due to a simultaneous online order. Despite this confusion, we decided to proceed with the meal.

We enjoyed the naan and papadam, which were satisfactory, and the two sets of paneer dishes we received, given that we had already ordered a paneer dish🤔. Although the food's taste was above average, the service left room for improvement. Specifically, better management of online orders and a more efficient resolution of mistakes would enhance the overall dining experience.

Additionally, the washrooms were in need of attention. The cleanliness and upkeep of these facilities did not meet the expectations set by the quality of the food.

My friends and I came to this restaurant as we really enjoyed the food in the past. However this time when we ordered the Vegetable Korma, we found a piece of hair. We confirmed that it was not our hair. We let our server know and she went to inform the chef. The server then returned and told us that the chef thought this "was not a big deal". We were then taken aback because this is a health violation, anywhere in the world. The chef then came to speak with us personally, during which he directly told us that this could have been either ours or simply fallen from the environment, therefore claiming that this is a non issue. The hair size and color was visibly that of the chef's.

We wouldn't have had an issue if the chef had simply apologized and made us feel like our issue mattered. But this dismissive behavior on his part really upset us. The restaurant has now lost loyal customers. Very...

I ordered for take out. Several items to feed three people. The food was excellent. Thank you. Onion Bhaji tossed in the air fryer for a couple of minutes to crisp them = perfect. Naan bread was great. The Lamb Bhuna was VERY spicy, curried vegetables were a bit disappointing in texture and assortment. We ordered two chicken dishes - the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Tikka Masala both were tasty but there was a mere 4 bites of chicken in each. Terribly disappointing. I know the prices of food have gone up but 4 bites for almost 15$ a dish is certainly not worth ordering again. I’m sorry to say that after paying over 100$ for a take out Indian meal and not enough portions to feed 3 people - well, the neighbouring restaurants come out far ahead. We have amazing food here in St.Henri and I hope the Golden Thali learns to accommodate us because they certainly have the recipe for a great local Indian...
