Insanely horrible service at the Montreal location. We went in to order a few hot chocolates to go and ended up waiting over 45 min. The girl taking our order was quite confused (she literally asked my friend the price of the item she was ordering??) when I finally went back to the counter to ask how much longer it would be as it had been over 45 min I was met with attitude about how they have to warm the pots of milk one at a time in the microwave… even then it still shouldn’t have taken that long. She told me “3 more minutes” and then “4 more minutes” and eventually handed me this cup with chocolate smothered all over it and when I showed it to her, she asked someone to just hand me some napkins and went inside to avoid further interaction despite seeing the quality and mess I was served. Turns out the cup was also broken or ripped and my hour long microwave hot chocolate completely dripped out. Luckily we had napkins in the car and I ended up having a few sips while the rest soaked into the napkins. This was the most absurd and disgusting experience I’ve had trying to obtain a single cup of...
Read moreStumbled upon this gem on the way back from dinner during our stay in Montreal. We ordered the Pistachio cookie; which we were told would be 15 minutes to make. I would have waited 15 hours after experiencing this masterpiece of a dessert. First off, this is a two person adventure and my gf and I were up to the challenge. They bring a carafe of water to your table for a reason; it is the top 3 most decadent, rich desserts I have ever experienced. The cookie was fresh baked in the cast iron skillet to perfection and covered with a blend of various chocolates, pistachio pieces, and vanilla ice cream. The cherry on top was them adding the fun message at the bottom. Not very often do you order something and have it come out exactly looking like the menu and completely Instagram ready....this was. Final price was about $13 U.S. which we both agreed we would have paid double that. From the looks of it the rest of the menu looks just as good but unfortunately our Montreal trip only allowed for 1 visit there. Highly...
Read moreOf the wave of new Crepe places that have emerged in Montreal lately, Holychoco has to be the most decadent. If you are typically a solo diner like me, be warned that you need to bring a friend to order one of the main items here unless you have a truly seasoned sweet tooth. The crepes here are considerably more expensive than most competitors but they are massive to back up the price tag. I went with the Holychoco special. This crepe was served standing tall, stuffed full of banana, strawberry, brownies and tons of chocolate sauce. There was hardly any crepe layer with how much other stuff it was, it was indulgent to a nearly guilty extent. By the time I was 2/3 in I realized this was not designed to be consumed by a single person but I was in too deep at that point. I might have caught a cavity or two at Holychoco but I won't say it wasn't an enjoyable experience either. For medical reasons I probably shouldn't...
