This was a real disappointment. I was very excited to try an all you can eat restaurant, but what a disappointment. Unfortunately, I won't be back and cannot recommend.
FOOD All the food that is meant to be served hot was cold or room temp. We ordered two rounds and it was the same for both. Additionally, i ordered a spicy salmon sushi and it was not spicy at all. My boyfriend said the mock chicken tao was aweful. A lot of the items had too much sauce. The sushi were very average, not sure why some comments say they are the best sushi in town. Sushi momo, ohana and bloom are so much better, it doesn't even compare. The only thing I liked was the sauteed veggies even if they were room temp. I hope we don't get sick. Not sure if food has been sitting out or was not reheated properly.
TERRIBLE MENU The menu was scanned, which is fine, but there was no description of the foods, just names. Therefore, when it came to sushi, you had no idea what was in it. Additionally, some items were marked SG which I assume means sans gluten (gluten-free in English), but the item would be marked gluten-free in the english menu, but not french menu. Plus, I asked the waitress if it meant gluten-free, and she had no idea what it meant
GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS VERY LIMITED We were 5 and I was the only gluten-free free one. I had called to see about the options, and she did mention it was limited, but some things are possible. When we got there and I scanned the menu, and since it was unclear what I could eat, I asked the waitress to tell me what's gluten-free. She mentioned that all sushi could be made without tempura to make them gluten-free, but that in the wok items, the only thing was sauteed veggies. I kept asking her to verify for other items marked SG and turns out some were gluten-free and others not. So we order and then she comes back to inform me that 3 of the sushis are not gluten-free afterall which were all the most interesting ones. I new my options wouldn't be awesome. But I still went for the rest of the group, but honestly it's not a good choice for gluten-free.
SERVICE The service was quick which was nice. There was a robot bringing the plates which was funny for my daughter, but the robot did make a lot of noise on the tile floor. The waitress were not knowledgeable on the menu for gluten-free and kept needing to ask and didn't seem confident. They were polite though and quick to come when we signaled. We had to find and get the high chair ourselves. The booster was broken. Waitresses never proposed it.
ENVIRONMENT/AMBIANCE Not the best, it felt quite cheap. Lacked decor. Cheap chairs, no place to hang coats. Plastic water jugs. Plastic soy sauce plates. Wooden disposable chopsticks and not cutlery. Had to go get forks ourselves. The one nice thing was that it was spaceous.
PRICE/PAYMENT It was 37$ for all you can eat. Obviously, all you can eat is never the best ingredients. A lot of fried food, rice, and noodles to stuff you. I think the price is ok if it had better food. We have the mon quebec vegane card for discounts and when I asked her if they participated she said she didn't know. I looked it up and found the 10% discount and showed my card. She then applied it, but again lack...
Read moreThe worst restaurant service experience I have ever had. I’m really sorry to report this.
We (2 people) arrived and ordered items for the all-you-can-eat buffet, to order sushi. This involves using an online system. The food arrives from the kitchen on a robot tray, from which the server takes to the tables. We immediately ordered about 5 or 6 small items (2 pieces ea), to start. When our first item arrived about half an hour later, the server told us it was normal to take this long, and as we continued waiting for the rest of our order, we placed another round of orders since it was apparently rather slow.
After 2.5 hours had passed since arriving (and about 1.5 hours since we had ordered the second round of items), we had eventually received most of the things we ordered in the first round but none of the second. And we never received the drink we ordered when we first arrived.
At this point we told the server we wanted to leave, and that we would like to pay using a gift card that we a friend had bought me on the restaurant website earlier that day.
The server couldn’t figure out what we had ordered or what had been delivered, and we also had no record, since the online system seemed to have somehow reset, and didnt show our order history. The server wanted to give us a discount since we had not received almost any food, and yet had no idea how to use the gift card. She had to check with the boss, who apparently told her that “no gift cards, no discounts”. So we were forced to pay for one all-you-can-eat meal (even though we most certainly didn’t get that), and now have a nonrefundable gift card that apparently cannot be used despite being purchased from the restaurant website.
Apparently the main boss was away in China, and our experience may be unusual, but it was so bad I must warn others about this.
All in all it was a absurdly bad experience, and we left after over 2 and a half hours, still hungry, having paid for more than we received.
The few pieces of sushi we did get were okay, but nothing very special. If you want vegan sushi there are a number of infinitely better places in Montreal to go to....
Read moreNot at all the quality I expected. I was really looking forward to trying this place. Went for my best friend’s birthday. She was also excited about trying this place.
As a predominantly plant-based eater, I may be a tough critic. I’ve tried many other vegan restaurants including vegan sushi places. I can’t say that this place ranks in the top 20…unfortunately.
We had the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) menu, which is the same than a la carte. The AYCE is about $35 plus tax. If you were to order a la carte, the meals would be about $12.99/ea more or less. Which makes me wonder, if I would’ve ordered a la carte, what would have been the quality of the plates? Because if it would’ve been the same as AYCE, I DEFINITELY would’ve been disappointed and so would most, in my opinion.
Since it’s AYCE, my expectations were a bit lower and I didn’t complain. But the soups were lukewarm, as if it had been sitting on the counter waiting to be distributed at some point. In fact, many of the plates arrived lukewarm.
Also, the wait time was ridiculously long. The restaurant was not that busy at all. I think it took about 30-40 minutes before we got our first round and when it did, it was warm not hot as if it had been forgotten on the counter.
The plates were either too saucy or lack flavour. The white rice felt like it was the end of a batch with really dry grains.
The only thing I’d admit was satisfying was the sushis! The service was fine. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. It looks a bit bare when you first get in but the décor is decent and if your expectations are not too high, you may enjoy the place.
I would say that it’s not a place to take someone who’s wanting to try vegan food for the first time. It wouldn’t do justice to vegan food.
In conclusion, for a $40 bill of AYCE, I don’t think it’s worth it. Either the quality needs to increase or the price should go down. I still gave a 3 star because the food was edible and my friend and I had a great time regardless of the...
