Bao Bao Dim Sum: An Exemplar of Affordable Excellence in Montreal's Chinatown Nestled in the heart of Montreal's vibrant Chinatown, at the junction of Saint-Urbain and de la Gaucherière, awaits the charming Bao Bao Dim Sum—a culinary haven that strikes a harmonious chord between value and satisfaction. Conveniently positioned just a leisurely stroll away from the Place-d’Armes metro station, Bao Bao Dim Sum captures the essence of accessibility. While the ubiquitous challenge of parking lingers, a testament to the bustling urban landscape, the rewards that await within are undeniably worth the pursuit. An aspect worth noting is the restaurant's inaccessibility for individuals with mobility challenges, a factor that regrettably restricts inclusivity. The symphony of service orchestrated by the diligent staff resonates with efficiency, alleviating the concern of extended wait times despite their reliance on a single cash register. This commitment to seamless service elevates the dining experience, creating a sense of satisfaction with every visit. My interactions with the staff over the course of numerous takeout encounters have been consistently marked by positivity, a testament to their dedication to customer satisfaction. While the restaurant does offer a modest seating area for those inclined to dine on-site, the true essence of Bao Bao Dim Sum flourishes in its takeout offerings. The menu is a meticulously crafted symphony of affordability, showcasing an array of culinary treasures thoughtfully priced to align with the diverse palate of patrons. Of noteworthy acclaim are the steam buns, priced modestly between $3 and $4.20 at the time of this observation. These delectable morsels embody the ethos of value for money, delivering not only on taste but also on the promise of a fulfilling and economical indulgence. In a city brimming with dining options, Bao Bao Dim Sum rises as a shining star of budget-friendly excellence. It stands as a testament to the art of delivering a dining experience without compromising on financial prudence. With unwavering conviction, I extend my resounding recommendation to partake in the value-rich offerings of this culinary haven. Bao Bao Dim Sum unquestionably merits a well-earned five stars—a distinction that underscores its unwavering commitment to offering exceptional value to its patrons.

My wife and I visited Montreal, we made a stop in the vibrant Chinatown district and decided to try Bao Bao Dim Sum for a quick bite. It was our first time trying bao and buns, so we were quite curious and excited to experience something new. The bao buns themselves were quite impressive in terms of texture, soft, smooth, and fluffy, just as they should be. They had a gentle, almost pillow-like quality. As for the filling, it was decent but not exceptional. It had a mild flavor, and while it was well-cooked, we felt it could have used a bit more seasoning or a bolder flavor profile to really make the experience memorable. It wasn’t disappointing, but it didn’t quite wow us either. Overall, our experience was pleasant, especially as a first-time introduction to bao. It’s a good place to try something different, especially if you're exploring Chinatown and want a quick and easy meal. While the buns themselves stood out for their excellent texture, the fillings left a bit more to be desired in terms of flavour.

Located inside Chinatown Montreal. Small little shop that sells cute buns, pastries and bubble tea. They are probably most well known for their adorable cartoon buns. All their buns are fresh and hot right out of the oven when your order them. All the buns are adorable and the fillings are tasty. I love the hello kitty custard buns here! It's soft and delicious. Buns are relatively cheap around $2 each. I've also tried the melting custard bun. This was actually melting inside. But I prefer the regular custard one better. I bought a total of 9 bun at once one time and they stuffed them into the boxes. In one box they put 4 buns. All the buns ended squished and deformed looking. Be careful when you buy multiple buns. You should ask them to bag then separately instead. That might be better than boxing them. Overall, decent place. Nice presentation of buns. There is limited seating. The shop has only a few chairs. Can probably sit up to 5 people.

So so food, awful customer service, horrible waiting time. I brought a fried chicken breast and the cashier told me to wait 7 to 10 minutes. I asked if I could keep the receipt and come back 7 min later, she promised me as long as I had the receipt as prove nothing could go wrong. I came back exactly 7 min later, nothing. They said that the food was not done yet so I waited for 5 more minutes in the store. They had no idea I understand perfectly Cantonese, and I overheard that they just gave me food to some random customer in the store who ordered later than me. And they were trying to fool me by saying the food was not ready. I confirmed them how came they just gave away my order to someone else while I still had the receipt. The servers just rolled their eyes and pushed the responsibility to each other. Instead of getting a honest response or an apology, the waitress practically said: "I went to eat and wasn't there. You cannot blame this on me." I felt completely disgusting and asked for a refund, they refused. So I argued with them for another 20 min. At the end they prepared the food in a rush, gave it to me and asked me not to cause a drama. This experience completely ruined...

Been here twice; odd service over here. First time had to have been over a year ago. They have a large variety of buns, so I'm taking a few minutes to see what they offer, what I want, but the cashier is getting quite mad, impatient. I'm not even blocking the line, just observing the menu from a distance trying to make up my mind. I finally order and she still seems mad that I didn't immediately know what I wanted to order. I'm not familiar with all these types of buns; instead of offering some advice, she just gets frustrated. Not a good way to treat a customer.

I gave this place another try today; weird service yet again. Not friendly at all; frustrated and slightly angry attitude. But, you can get a pretty tasty bun here for under $2, so it's a good cheap snack. Plus you save on tipping because there's no possible justification for tipping such a rude server.

No offence. This place would be much better with friendlier service. Perhaps the staff need some customer service training. Beyond that, the product is good and...
