We went here with a group for a Saint Patricks Day celebration on March 16th 2025 and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, the place was nearly empty. Our first waitress was absolutely amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and checked on us regularly. I wish I had gotten her name because she truly provided great service. Unfortunately, her shift ended, and she informed us that Sarah would be taking over. One of our friends had ordered the "All You Can Eat Fish & Chips" and was asked to pay upfront, but the first waitress assured her that she could continue ordering refills. When Sarah took over, our friend requested another order. Sarah specifically offered the option of "just fish or fish and chips," and our friend said she’d take both if it was included in the refill. Sarah confirmed and placed the order. From that point on, the service completely deteriorated. Sarah never came back to check on us, I had to flag down another bartender, who then had to ask Sarah to bring our bills. When our friend received her bill, she was wrongly charged for a full second fish and chips meal. She calmly explained the situation, even showing proof of her previous payment, but Sarah immediately became aggressive, raising her voice and arguing. She accused our friend of trying to get a free meal, saying it "wasn't her job to know the menu, but ours," and even claimed that if our friend refused to pay, management would take the money from her paycheck. Sarah then escalated the situation further—she slammed a chair down in front of our friend, continued yelling, interrupted her repeatedly, and even made inappropriate comparisons, saying, “If the police pull you over or security catches you stealing, you can’t just say you didn’t know.” Meanwhile, our friend remained calm because other customers were watching, something Sarah clearly didn’t care about. Two of our group members went outside to take a picture of the restaurant’s sign advertising "All You Can Eat Fish & Chips," while I looked up the online menu. Nowhere did it say that refills were limited to fish only. When we asked for a manager, Sarah ignored us and continued yelling. Finally, a bartender stepped in, told Sarah to leave, and admitted that the advertising was misleading. He apologized and fixed the bill. But even after that, Sarah returned, threw the revised bill at our friend, and shoved the payment machine at her. Our group spent well over $300–$400 on food, drinks, and games, and this level of treatment was unacceptable. Sarah’s behavior was aggressive, rude, and unprofessional. Based on Google reviews, this is not the first time she has mistreated customers, which is shocking. To make matters worse, the kitchen was visibly dirty, and there were rat traps placed throughout the bar. I strongly recommend avoiding this place until they clean up their act—both in terms of staff training and restaurant hygiene.

Came here with a small group around midnight. Had to order drinks at the bar which is fine, however there were only 2 bartenders. One spent 10 minutes flirting with a customer while the other one was working. The bartender who was working was condescending, and cancelled a transaction to force a tip on a pitcher of beer despite no service and a long wait time. The beer didn’t taste like how it normally should, and was sour and flat. Rustic atmosphere wasn’t kept clean so it felt run down. Also suspicious activity was just happening out in the open with someone dropping off a backpack. Just really weird vibes paired with poor night service. The pub wasn’t even that busy (20% capacity). Won’t be coming here on my next visit to this city.

If you want to experience racism, please visit this pub. Such a rude waitress Sarah!! Been there on May 26th with friends, ordered fish & chips with drinks. Fish was over burnt and tasted little bitter. When we asked her to change them, she yelled at me saying that’s how they are made everywhere as if we’ve never ate one before. Felt embarrassed in front of my friends. We had to take out the whole batter off the fish and ate them. She saw us taking pictures of the food and changed her behaviour and started being nice so that they don’t get a worst rating. But once a bad experience will always be remembered. Not to forget, chef was very nice old guy came to us and asked what was the problem and made another set of them.

We had an awful experience and I'd recommend avoiding this bar as there are plenty of great options nearby.

We were served by Karl who was extremely rude from the moment we walked in. We asked if we could move table in a half empty bar but that was apparently not possible, I then ordered two drinks and advised that I would be ordering food later which he rolled his eyes at. Without asking for the bill, Karl then placed the card machine down and requested that I pay immediately. Having received terrible service from him I decided not to give him a tip, the guy then hit the card machine off of my table muttering "service isn't included" while he walked away, something I was well aware of.

I've been travelling in Canada for 5 weeks and Karl is the only individual I didn't tip (congratulations to him!). I let him know the reason that I didn't tip was because of him poor attitude and he just pointed to the door.

Service aside, the Sleeman was flat and the wine was...

Came here for a late night bite but the kitchen was closed at 1 AM :( so we got drinks instead. We got drink menus but nobody came back for orders for awhile. It was pretty quiet at the time (us, another table, and those seated at the bar).

We ordered a pair of cocktails and some water. It took awhile for the waters to arrive but the staff said he had a phone call come up (can't hold that against them). Still the drinks arrived eventually, and they were pretty good if not a bit weak.

The music selection was definfetely the best quality of the bar (various strands of rock). The ambiance benefited from the righteous tunes. We were really feeling the music selection after the concert we just attended.

I'd be tempted to try this place again, but only if the kitchen was open late because realistically that's the only time I'd be looking for a place like this. To grab some food after a late night event. Even if it was select late...
