If you’re anywhere near the Niagara Falls area and don’t stop at Nikos, you’re doing your tastebuds a disservice. This little hole-in-the-wall gem is hands down the best spot for authentic, no-frills, made-to-order poutine. It’s the kind of place you only find if you know — and once you do, you’ll never forget it.
We ordered classic poutine and burgers, and everything was absolutely on point. The fries were golden and fresh, the cheese curds had that perfect melt-meets-squeak balance, and the gravy? Rich, savory, soul-hugging. No shortcuts here — this isn’t fast food, it’s real food made fast.
The burgers were juicy, well-seasoned, and came with just the right amount of toppings — flavorful but not sloppy. Everything was made fresh to order, yet came out quickly. They don’t rush the food, they just know what they’re doing.
The portions are generous and absolutely fair for the price. You’re not getting ripped off here — you’re getting what you pay for and more. Just a heads up though: it’s cash only, so don’t roll up expecting to swipe a card. Come prepared.
The vibe is unassuming — no gimmicks, no trendy decor, just good food done right. It’s the kind of spot locals swear by and travelers stumble on and rave about for years. We’ll absolutely be back every time we’re in town.
Don’t overthink it — just go. Order the poutine. And...
Read moreNiko’s came highly recommended by friends who recently visited. After 8 hours on the road to NF, we were starving & couldn’t wait to try this place. First of all, they’ve got some pretty sketchy looking characters hanging around outside the tiny shack that is a restaurant, but my husband and I ignored this. Maybe the owners are kind to the homeless? I don’t know. Now, to be fair, it was 25 minutes til closing time, but as we looked at the menu hanging on the wall, the owner (I’m assuming) says, “Folks, I’m out of everything. I’ve got nothing left unless you want a handful of fries, maybe.” I could understand maybe being out of fish, or hey, we ran out of burger patties, but you’re out of everything? They have burgers, chicken, fish, onion rings, and fries from what I saw on the menu, so how are you out of EVERYTHING? In any case, I turned to my husband and said, “Okay, let’s go somewhere else.” Now, that could’ve been the end of it & I wouldn’t have even written a review, but as we walked away, the owner (?) shouted, “You can be mad all you want to…” I never said one word to this person and he’s shouting at me? I will never go back and it’s no wonder that’s the only building he can afford to sell what little food he seems to...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I got poutine and a small onion ring today from here. Poor guys were working during the hottest day of the year with no air at all, sweating very badly, which I give them Huge props for, I felt so bad for them having to make my fries and rings lol. On the way home i got upset cause I was eating the poutine and got gravy all over myself and I was complaining to my boyfriend, then a man on a porch called out to us asking if we just got nikos, which we replied "yeah". he went on to explain that he had just been there and refused to go back because of something the cook said during a rush about wishing everyone would go home. he told me he would never go back, that it was bad service. I told him to get over it. I have worked in fast food myself, for 2 straight summers in a row so I totally understand how bad it can be when theres no air and you're standing around hot fryers all day and you get moody because of the heat and say things you dont mean. The food was Super delicious, my boyfriend and I will definitely be back. I will also definitely be recommending this place to all of my family and friends. Keep doing what you do guys! The food is great! I'm proud of you guys for staying open...
