In the afternoon of the day of our visit, we ordered the artichoke dip, as a to-go snack. We asked for a gluten-free pita with it, and advised of our gluten allergy. On pickup, the dip was delicious but after one bite of the bread, we realized it was not gluten-free. We were surprised the staff would be careless about an allergy, but decided to keep our dinner reservations and give the restaurant another chance.

At dinner, the server taking care of us was Alison. I ordered a glass of wine to start. I wasn't offered a taste of it first - the glass arrived filled, no bottle in sight. After taking a sip, I realized it was very watered down. After that initial sip, I didn't touch the wine, but for the next hour and a half, Alison didn't notice, let alone ask if there was an issue with it.

For herself, my mom asked about a freshly squeezed juice to start. After two reminders about her question, she was informed there are no freshly squeezed juice options on offer.

My mom's dinner choice was the braised short rib. The short rib was very good, but it came with a grand total of 3 pieces of asparagus and a 'baked' potato which had been pre-cooked and reheated, arriving lukewarm on the outside and cold on the inside.

My dinner choice was the risotto, which was not risotto but half-boiled soggy rice with canned, sour vegetables. I took 3 laborious bites before I gave up. Curiously, Alison didn't notice that my plate (like my wine glass) remained untouched, either throughout the evening, or when we were settling the bill.

We skipped dessert.

A surprisingly disappointing experience on the whole, and needless to say, not one we would...

We live in Virgil but it seems to have taken us a long time to try the Cannery Restaurant. Well finally for our 51st Anniversary we did, accompanied by our Daughter. Our Waiter Bryton was a delight, helping to make the evening and occasion extra special. He was kind and patient with all our questions as well as making suggestions. My Husband is a kidder and Bryton played right along and gave as good as he got providing loads of laughter to our evening.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented and served. John and I each had the Beef Tenderloin done to perfection, our Daughter choose the Beef Short Ribs and said they were the best she'd ever had. We're not normally dessert people but the occasion called for something special so an order of the Peach Crumble and the NY Cheesecake.

It was a special evening's celebration made even more special by Bryton and the wonderful atmosphere of the Cannery on 12/21/24. Thanks to all to added sparkle to our Celebration

Wanted to add that we went back again in May to celebrate our daughter's and my birthday. Once again nothing but praise for our server, this time Alison who like Bryton went above and beyond with helpful suggestions (all delicious by the way) and very personable service.

It appears that The Cannery has become our family's place to Celebrate! An 85th Birthday is soon to arrive wonder if once again we'll be lured to The Cannery, it's wonderful atmosphere, great service and...

My husband and I booked a dinner reservation here for our champagne anniversary. Staff were friendly, but we were extremely underwhelmed by the skimpy menu & drink options (after a day of wine tastings, I just wanted a damn cocktail... The only one on their menu was a caesar which is not up my alley). They had very few dinner options, no specials (if they did, no one on staff told us about them.) Several dinner pictures posted here on Google reviews are not actually on their menu now, unless they were specials and actually mentioned to them by their servers.

Prices are wayyy out of line for the quality and taste of of the food. Typically when you have only 4 appetizer options and a handful of main options, the plates are generally expected to hit a home run, but they were just so basic. We had the baby greens salad, beef short ribs, striploin, and chocolate cheesecake. Everything was just basic and boring. We've had much better of these same menu items elsewhere many times in the past. Definitely disappointing. Not to mention, I left with a stomach ache that kept me up for a good few hours.

At least they were thoroughly clean (from a COVID-19 prevention perspective), nice and the restaurant had nice ambiance. Kitchen, menu and taste are barely "meh". Definitely not worth the price. Can't charge a premium price for basic ingredients and...

We (5 siblings) visited Niagara on the Lake Wednesday, April 17th to Friday, April 20th to celebrate our sister's 70th birthday. The weather was not very cooperative, our Vrbo was adequate but our night at The Cannery made up for all of it. Vacationing in April in the middle of the week lends itself to less crowds and more availability. Only two out of the five of us had ever been to Niagara on the Lake. We made reservations via the website (seamless) and arrived Thursday evening a little early. The lobby of the Pillar and Post was warm, beautifully decorated with fresh yellow roses and very welcoming. We were directed to the restaurant and promptly seated at our table. Our server, Sharon, was superb. Our niece (the birthday girl's daughter) called the restaurant ahead of time and had a bottle of wine for the table. It was beautifully presented and my sister was truly surprised. We ordered our meal, were never rushed and the food was delicious. We had several boxes of leftovers that were just as tasty the following day. We had coffee and after dinner drinks. My brother and I treated the group and Sharon expertly accommodated our two credit cards. We left The Cannery that night and Niagara on the Lake the following day with a desire to return again and relive an exceptional experience. With a grateful heart, The Americans

Went to the restaurant in the hotel. Beautiful place and great service! If you are looking for a sexy date night vibe this would be the spot. We loved the lamb and highly recommend. Pair it with the Chianti ❤️

Just returned from celebrating our son’s lovely girlfriend’s birthday, at the Cannery Restaurant at te Pillar and Post in Niagara on the Lake. We had a wonderful time. Dinner was so delicious, service was on point and the room is beautiful. The steaks were cooked perfect to our liking. Bernaise sauce was one of the best I’ve had, luxurious, balanced in flavour. The Brie was the star appetizer over the crab cakes. The Brookie and Crème Brûlée were a hit! Patricia, who took care of our table, was lovely, professional and had perfect timing throughout. We are considering this spot for our wedding in the Fall. Highly recommend! Baked Brie Niagara peach & jalapeño chutney, puff pastry, pink peppercorn infused honey, ciabatta crisps Crab Cakes (A Cannery Tradition since 1970) Blue crab cakes, golden mango salsa, smoked jalapeño aioli Delmonico Ribeye Truffle mash, green beans, golden beets, bourbon peppercorn sauce, crispy onions Add on Béarnaise New York Striploin Truffle mash, green beans, golden beets, red wine jus, stilton and caramelized shallot butter Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée Cherry orange biscotti Classic “New York” Style Cheesecake Pretzel crust, white chocolate cremeux, strawberry compote Brookie Served warm with chocolate ganache and brownie crisp
